Extremely out of character... but that's okay. (:

When I listen to David Kayes voice passing through Sesshomaru's lips I can hear him singing, guess it's just me. But I think, just maybe behind the scenes, especially if jaken isn't looking he'd mumble a little tune... hell why not, even Devils can sing, right? Why not Sesshomaru?

He is a Dog-Demon right, and dogs howl, that's sort of like singing, really I don't see it as being that far fetched. hm, I really don't.

Hmm, idk the fact that he doesn't cry or laugh at all through the series tells me that showing any thing other than stoicism on his face just isn't normal. So the singing thing for me is like cute... and Sesshomaru isn't cute he's beautiful in a scary way. It just doesn't seem to fit, lol.

Not very Sesshy eh.... guess I have too inventive an imagination. I don't agree about the cute part though, since what I hear in my head isn't cute at all its beautiful, like bring tears to your eyes type of beautiful, something solemn and deep, not that rock-a-bye-baby or twinkle-twinkle little star crap... but, I guess it's hard to explain.

My take on the the fact that he expresses a lack of emotion to others (reader/viewers included) is not because he is inacapible of feeling such things, it's because, not only was he raised to be composed, to express an aloft attitude with a great deal of self control, deep down he's actually very shy (and if being Shy is the wrong word then he definately gets embarressed easily should his emotions show in anyway other than through his cold agression blanketed by that cold outter exterior), and being static like that, putting on a cold front is just his way of dealing with it. It's the way he was raised to be (mostly likely by his mother whose that way to, and left it's impression on him. Like mother like son). It's just a mask, like being frozen on the surface, but warm underneath. Well... that's the impression I get anway.

Do you read the manga? There's a point where this shows near the end of volume 47, where for a moment he's almost caught red handed showing his affection towards Rin by Kohaku when they first enter Hell, but catches it and instantly straitens himself out, putting back on that cold face, but I guess you'll have to see it for yourself. Unforunately it's one of those small bits that got left out of the anime, so you'll have to read the manga to see what I mean. *I posted a pic^.^V*

There are also some good examples of Sesshomaru when his expression softens and you can see the softer side of him in volumes 14, 36 and 38 of the manga, where for a pannel or two in each his eyes soften with a sign of sympathy and compassion. The first is over Rin the next are over Kagura's blight, it's brief but it's there in the art work in the expression Miss Takahashi originally put on his face, which isn't expressed well in the anime.

I really can't picture Sesshomaru singing to anyone. I can picture him tucking her in at night, and maybe - MAYBE - reading her a story or something, but I can't actually picture him SINGING.

sesshyswind- Wow. That was a lot of text. But yes, I totally get what you mean. I think that's one of the reasons I like him so much, he just needs a little bit of compassion. In the anime, I can sometimes see that little bit of kindness in his face, but he just doesn't want to tarnish his pride. He's a bit like me, afraid to show emotions because of what others would think. Of course, he didn't have computers, I'm my true self online.
