Sam is at his locker. We see he has a fairly wide assortment of Chapstick. He debates which one to use…
M: Go with the cherry. I like cherry.
Sam smiles, turns to see Mercedes grinning at him.
S: Yeah? What to do a taste test?
She glances down the hallway, worried.
M: Sam.
S: Sorry. I thought tu were going to tell Shane.
M: I am. It just seems cold, right before Valentine’s Day.
S: Maybe tu don’t want to tell him at all.
M: No, I do. Of course I do. But he’s got that temper and… tu know, I just want it to be right. (Sweetly) We can still go to Sugar’s party . Shane always has a “date” with his Nana on Valentine’s Day. They eat camarón cóctel, coctel and watch “Say Anything.” So I’m with him from 5 to 7, but them I’m all yours.
Sam takes this in, conflicted. Finally:
S: I don’t think so.
M: What?
S: I don’t care about Sugar’s party. All I want is for tu to be mine. Really mine. What else tu need? Look at what we have in common. Not just red hot chemistry, but Glee… The God Squad. Does Shane share any of that with you?
He slams his locker closed. Bites the bullet.
S: Sneaking around, it’s not right. It’s not who we are. I know what tu feel. But if tu can’t pull the trigger, we’re done.
