Rose to Receive the cereza, cerezo Darling Award at ZomBcon 2011
ZomBcon International is proud to announce the latest name to be added to the 2011 guest list. This year, Guest of Honor, Rose McGowan (Charmed, Scream, Planet Terror) will be joining ZomBcon on Saturday, October 22nd and 23rd for a screening of Planet Terror, Q&A, fan signings and fan foto opportunity.
This año also marks the announcement of the 1st annual cereza, cerezo Darling Award; celebrating Valiente independent women in the film and televisión industry making a difference in their community. Every year, ZomBcon will honor a female artist in the horror genre to raise awareness for a local charity in the spirit of horror every October.
Rose’s appearance will be help raise awareness for a local non-profit charity, REEL GRRLS that empowers young women from diverse communities to realize their power, talent and influence through media production. Their mission is to cultivate voice and leadership in girls at a vulnerable age in their development. She will be donating 100% of all autographs and foto opportunities to the charity during ZomBcon.
A native to Seattle, Ms. McGowan spent her high school years at Roosevelt and Nova. She continues to have family ties to the northwest and saw this opportunity as a great way to lend her support for a local organzation that will continue to be a tradition in her honor annually.
ZomBcon’s Artisitic Director, Ryan Reiter shared his excitement about their new spirit award por saying, “We believe that as a culture, we can offer unique opportunities to help both expand the fan experience and raise awareness for such wonderful local organization; we are thrilled that Rose shares that same spirit.”
This unique award is named after one of her most beloved roles from the Grindhouse series por Robert Rodriguez’s known as Planet Terror. She plays cereza, cerezo Darling that as the starlet that takes on the zombie horde after overcoming the loss of her leg, only to be replaced with a machine gun.
