I like Charlie. i think it caught that offbeat tone well.
'Daddy, I want another Pony!'
'What do you use hair creme for?
To lock in moisture!'
'I like grapes!'
'You don't know what we're talking about!
Dragonflies?!'
'I think there's someone at the door!'
'You're really weird!'
'I'm sorry, i was having a flashback!'
(amongst others!)
Far better than 'Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory', which people call the 'Original' but this isn't the case! it does'nt even have the same name as the book it is adapting! and also i feel that 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory' is much closer to the essence of the book and taps into the mind of a child but also gives grown-ups something to laugh at!
the only negative thing i have to say about it are the americanisms when the book is clearly set in england. by this i mean that the currency is apparently dollars not pounds, it is called candy not chocolate and there are a few others...
Plus they worked with Road Dahl's wife to make sure it's up to standards and Roald Dahl didn't like the original. It's a winner to me... although I do like the Oompa Loompa songs in the original... they were cool.
And I loved Matilda too! I can watch that over and over! The Witches wasn't too bad... I enjoyed it.
Charlie ad the Chocolate Factory is a close second.
Lol, but I love it!
Xo*
But Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Matilda are so close.
