Ugh they made The Witches into a movie??? I love that book... but the movie was probably either really bad or really creepy.

It was creepy, but less so then the book, and they softened the ending.

I like Charlie. i think it caught that offbeat tone well.

i love this film! Johnny depp is a legend! and there are so many funny lines, par exemple:

'Daddy, I want another Pony!'
'What do you use hair creme for?
To lock in moisture!'
'I like grapes!'
'You don't know what we're talking about!
Dragonflies?!'
'I think there's someone at the door!'
'You're really weird!'
'I'm sorry, i was having a flashback!'
(amongst others!)

Far better than 'Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory', which people call the 'Original' but this isn't the case! it does'nt even have the same name as the book it is adapting! and also i feel that 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory' is much closer to the essence of the book and taps into the mind of a child but also gives grown-ups something to laugh at!

the only negative thing i have to say about it are the americanisms when the book is clearly set in england. by this i mean that the currency is apparently dollars not pounds, it is called candy not chocolate and there are a few others...

I like Willy Wonka but Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is just so out there... and Johnny Depp is HILARIOUS! "You're really weird!"
Plus they worked with Road Dahl's wife to make sure it's up to standards and Roald Dahl didn't like the original. It's a winner to me... although I do like the Oompa Loompa songs in the original... they were cool.

And I loved Matilda too! I can watch that over and over! The Witches wasn't too bad... I enjoyed it.

This movie used to creep me out when I was younger :D It's one of the rare times when a movie adaptation is better than the book.

Johnny Depp is the BEST Willy Wonka. But I feel bad that Grandpa Joe is gone. Well, The actor who played Grandpa Joe (David Kelly) died on February 13th, 2012. David Kelly died the same day that Laurie Main (The Narrator of Disney's Winnie the Pooh) died.
