First of all, this is an opinion so please don't screw me with hate comments. ^^
So...in Breaking Dawn, we find out that Jacob finally imprinted. Some of us were happy about this because finally Jacob's out of his misery of Bella.
Of course, there were some of us who didn't really like who he imprinted on. Not that some of us don't like her, we just think she's still too young.
Jacob imprinted on Renesmee, daughter of Edward and Bella, when she was just a baby. Now, that freaks us out because we think Nessie's too young and we know what imprinting is.
Imprinting is a wolf's way of finding his soul mate. Once a lobo has imprinted, he would be deeply attached to the girl he had imprinted on. Everything that mattered would be erased and all that would matter would be the girl...her happiness...
Like Sam and Emily, Rachel and Paul and Jared and Kim, we think imprinting is like finding the girl you'll grow old with. Indeed, even Jacob himself confessed that imprinting is 'stronger than amor at first sight'.
With this we know that imprinting is like falling deeply in love.
Quil Ateara imprinted on 2-year old Claire Young if we remember and it earned him some negative points. The fact that he imprinted on a child can be...weird. Jacob was sure that Quil didn't think of Claire in a mature way...yet.
'Gravity moves' that's what Jake said. Quil didn't see Claire as a girlfriend material during that time. He saw her as a precious little girl he had to protect, to make her happy.
So how does Quil's case differ from Jake's? During Nessie's childhood, we are assured that Jacob will continue to act whatever Nessie wished him to be: brother, friend, protector.
We forget the fact that Nessie will GROW UP. She won't stay young people. She will grow up.
Jacob dicho that once Claire grows up, she and Quil will be as happy as Sam and Emily. So, same thing will happen to him and Nessie once she GROWS UP.
To be honest, I think Jacob is the luckiest imprinter in his pack. Why?
Renesmee is the most beautiful creature in the whole planet.

unlike Emily, Kim, Claire and Rachel, Renesmee lives long. she's half a vampire and she won't wrinkle, she'll still be young.
Yes, Jacob WILL grow old once he stops phasing but at least, he won't worry about his wife dying in seventy years.
