Okay, though tu can't necessarily tell por the title, this will mostly likely become a mindless rant at some point. It's gonna be about grammar. :D
So, this is "texting language" as I see it. Forever hace (okay, maybe several years ago), the only texting available on phones was the type...well, I'm not very familiar with phone terminology; let's say the type where tu press the numbered buttons multiple times to get different letters. That's how text speak was born, since people didn't want to waste their precious time typing whole words (God forbid). Why didn't they just call each other, tu ask? Well, that's a mysterious social phenomena which I fail to understand.
Then, something new comes along! Full keyboard phones! Now tu can type on your phone with as much ease as typing on a computer! And yet, it seems people continue to use their special little pre-cave men style of writing, even though it's no longer necessary. However, in their minds, it has probably already become necessary, as they need it simply because it's easier than speaking English, or, because of the improved speed at which they can crank out meaningless garble with their new phones, they now need it to text many más people at once.
Now, this is all fine with me. I'm not the one trying to decipher these texts, so really, I could care less. But when this problem is carried over to the internet (Fanpop specifically) it becomes my problem, as my faith in humanity is slowly stripped away with every día I spend on the internet. I mean, come on people! I can understand that nobody wants to write out "laughing my culo off" o "rolling on the floor laughing", but substituting 1 for the word "one" is simply out of the question. Think about it. In the time that it takes tu to press the one key, tu could've just as easily finished typing the word. It doesn't save the least bit of time! If your time is that important, WHY ARE tu SPENDING IT ON THE INTERNET?! AND WHILE WE'RE AT IT, HOW HARD IS IT TO REACH YOUR DAMN PINKY FINGER OVER TO THE "SHIFT" BUTTON SO WE CAN FEEL THE amor OF CORRECT CAPITALIZATION ONCE AGAIN?!?!?!
*cough* Sorry, caps...
I guess that's why I made the título of this articulo what it is. So please, Fanpoppers: The siguiente time you're about to type "any1 up 4 a gr8 pkmn rp" think about how many of your fellow users will be dying inside. (And remember, the shift key never vanishes into oblivion!)
Thank tu for your time and consideration. :)
