What absolutely terrifies you?

I plan on being a horror autor when I grow up, and I would first like to see what people do fear. Mind telling me what you're scared of the most? :)

Hmmm,this isn't going to help tu much unless tu have a storyline where a crazed killer is chasing his victim on a the rooftop of a tall building and has her dangling over the edge. But I AM petrified of heights - ever since I was a kid. Any height, even in an enclosed situation. My daughter just moved into an apartment on the 9th floor with an unbelievable, amazing view. I refused to even set foot on the balcony. Yep, I'm a real chicken that way!
