What do tu think of the riots in London?

If they can be called riots, but there really isn't much point to them anymore - it's just an excuse for all the thugs to vandalise and destroy property. It's disgusting. And almost nothing has been done about it por the government! I can't believe I live in a country where people can do so much damage and yet avoid heavy charges and fines por abusing the human rights laws. I think I might move...

I forgot to mention that they're not just in Londres now, they've spread over parts of England and I think there was an attempt to start them in Glasgow, but as far as I know it didn't work.

The fact that nothing is being done por the goverment is very sad. Is anyone getting hurt?

Riots seem to be everywhere nowadays. It would be great just to have some peace in the world.Just for at least a mes o something.
I'm kinda scared riots will start in America... even though I think they already have.

Yeah, some people are getting hurt - I think a few have been killed - and buildings and businesses are being destroyed. The PM David Cameron has arrived back from his holiday and I think there will be an emegency government meeting tomorrow, but they've been very slow to act, since the riots started about 4 days ago. I agree with tu about peace...I wish people could get on with each other now and then. Hopefully there won't be any riots in America - these riots were started to protest against the death of a drug dealer last week who was shot por a policeman. Sorry that I've written so much - I've practically dado tu an essay in reply, lol.

I know... suppose if people are willing to cause trouble on the internet it shouldn't be surprising when some of them do it in person.

I just thought it was a matter of time really until things got too heated. There's too many people in the country and too little law enforcement. People can get away with so much now-a-days that i don't know why we have laws any more.
But i do have to say one thing - from what i have seen and heard, it's mostly young children and teenagers now. So where are the parents? Why are they not locking their children up and grounding them? If my son was out there rioting, smashing up businesses and causing havoc, i'd be down there so fast he wouldn't know what hit him. I do not tolerate young people being disrespectful. They all think they're so hard for smashing things up and causing terror in people, well i say we round them all up, take them all into the army and put them in the front line and then see who's got the balls.
It's disgraceful, it makes me sad to call myself British when something like this happens. It's not even about a cause any more. They're just out to cause trouble and i'm sorry, but the law enforcers and the government should get their backsides in gear, tether their loins and actually get something done about it. Why should we have human rights, rights that mean the police can not do anything, when we are actuación like animals. Disgusting.

You've raised some good points - I totally agree with you....and I also find it amazing that these teenagers' parents either don't know o don't about care what their offspring in their free time. How can the rioters respect the law when they clearly have no boundaries o rules in their inicial lives? But I don't that is an excuse, the laws shopuld be much harsher and the police should have been allowed to take proper action from the beginning. Britain is a poor excuse for a country if the government can't even stand up to criminals.

I agree, but it does make it a little harder on parents too. The government say it is now a crime and abuse if tu lock your children in the room, take away their games consoles etc and tu can be sent to prison for smacking your children. Now granted, i don't like seeing children get smacked, but a sharp tap around the ear hole when all else has failed has never done me any harm whatsoever. The government have taken the rights of parents to discipline their children in a way they see fit away from them, so it's no wonder parents are wondering what they should do. Hit your children they can scream abuse and tu not only lose your children, tu are also brandred an abuser. Tell your children off o try to ground them and they laugh at you! So what are we supposed to do about it, when not even the police and the government can get anything done. This whole country has gone to the dogs, as we have too many rights in my opinion. It should go back to the old days. No matter what age tu are, no matter what background tu come from, if tu have doen the crime, tu do the punishment.
