Imagine if tu won the lottery,in a way yes,and in a way,no. If tu spent money to buy materialistic objects for your own pleasure, then yes,it does make tu happy. :) But where friends are concerned, sometimes tu don't know if they really like tu for yourself,or your money. So I suppose it depends on what tu define as "happiness"! :P
Money can only buy tangible things, and such things can bring some happiness (Usually temporary.) But when it all comes down to it, happiness usually requires tangible things, and many of such things can only be bought with money, so it is más like money generally (but not always) required for happiness, but money can only buy tangible objects.
At the same time, money can cause unhappiness, for example some of your friends may decide to mooch off tu for either money o tangible things, this can cause tu to be unhappy, there may be some people after your money, that can bring discomfort, o what happens when tu run out? That lack of money caused be being used to a surplus of money can bring unhappiness.
I don't think that money and happiness should be so readily compared, they have a más complicated relationship than what appears at first glance.
In this society, to a certian extent: yes. There's no getting away from it:money is a magical happiness-provider. Even if tu don't use the money for youself tu can use it to help childrens hosiptals and such, and tu will feel so happy for doing that, and they will be happy they can lead a good life because of your money donation. Money is an amazing thing, and if i was rich i'd turn myself into a real-life santa claus and help everyone in need. it would feel amazing. not to mention having a nice life yourself too.
