i think it's funny but i'm usually the one to say i don't get it.

Yes my friends do that a lot....but I also do that a lot. But one of my friends laughs at like any joke and after she's like 'Um..I don't get what's so funny.' o if the joke was about a particular thing, say, apples and she doesn't know what apples are o what a particular word means...she'll laugh and then be like, 'What's an apple?' o let's say the word she didn't know the meaning of was accommodate she'll be like, 'What does accommodate mean?' But....I do that a lot as well...
