No.

- To begin, it's immoral. It's killing to mostrar that killing is wrong. If the government is killing people, then what kind of example are they setting?

- It's expensive. Actually, it costs más to kill someone than it does to imprison them for their lives. The higher cost is due to longer and más complex trials, más in depth investigations, retrials, appeals, state attorneys, etc.

- It can cause pain. Even giving the lethal injection a person can hurt them. They use a three drug cocktail, see. If the first drug, the one that knocks out the person, doesn't work o is injected improperly, then they will be awake the entire time, but won't be able to cry out because drug number two paralyzes them. (If the first drug doesn't work, the person will be suffocating as well, because their body won't be able to take in air.) There was actually a case where a man lifted up his head to say "It's not working," after the first drug was injected, and before the segundo hit him.

- The people administering the lethal injections are untrained. Certified doctors are not allowed to do the lethal injections (I forget why), o they will have their license revoked. So the people doing this have little o no medical training. They could administer the drugs wrong, give out the wrong doses, etc.

- tu can't ever be completely certain that a person committed the crime. There have been over 140 exonerations since the 70's, people that were convicted but then let off.

- It violates the Eighth Amendment, which is against cruel o unusual punishment. Wouldn't tu agree that murder is cruel? And the pain that can be caused is even worse.

- There ARE other alternatives. Life in prison without parole, for example.

- It does NOT deter. Criminals are not thinking clearly about long term effects when they murder someone, especially in crimes of passion. Also, the crime rates do not drop in states that have the death penalty in place.

- The system is biased. A person is four times más likely to be executed for killing a white man than for killing a black. There is also bias against the poorer class, who can't afford good lawyers. It isn't a very fair form of "justice" at all.

Well, as the saying goes, eye for an eye and tooth for a tooth. If tu take something, tu should have that something taken from you. Now, while it's kind of ironic to mostrar por killing people that killing people is wrong, there's also a sense of justice within it. If that person couldn't deal with the punishment, in this case death, then they shouldn't have committed the crime. Also, if I had been murdered, o a friend o a family member of mine were murdered, I would want to see that person dead, I would want to make sure that they couldn't do what they had done to me, my family o friends to anyone else. In a life in prison without parole, and that inmate could escape, but tu can't escape being dead. And I would also want to get even in a way.
However, the death penalty should be used only on the worst criminals out there. Going around and killing people for something mild that they'd done is a bit extreme. It should reserved to those, and only to those, that truly deserve it. Like someone who's killed multiple times rather than someone who committed manslaughter. It should be used on the people who knew what they were getting into multiple times but did it anyway.
Just like everything else, it has it's upsides and downsides, so I remain mutual on the subject.

You're going to punish someone for killing somelse. Then we're going to kill the murderer to mostrar them it's wrong?

That's so hypocritical.

I say lock them up for life. I think that's worse than death.
