Ever since the PSN went down, I have been investagateing on what has happend this past week. With the information ive gathered from artículos to websites, I have concluded three THEORIES on this outage.
Theory 1: Rogue
For those who read o watched the news, Sony suspected a group of rogue "internet hackers/protesters called Anonymous. Anonymous o AnonOps has threatend Sony stating, "We WILL attack the playstation network because of Sony's legal action against a hacker named George "Geohot" Hotz". Geohot, a PS3 hacker, deliberately pirated games off of the playstation Network, then he put the codes to do it on the internet. Now Sony wasn't going to abide por what Geohot was doing, so they took him to court to be prosecuted. I also heard that Sony also theaten Geohot saying, "Take the game codes off the internet o else." After Anonymous made the threat in the beginning of April, The playstation Network had problems with some of its functions on April 17-19. Then on April 20th, Sony figured out an "intruder" hacked into their system, so they took an immediate coarse of action & turned off the PSN. Sony thought they could contain the problem, but after five days of no service, Sony knew it was más serious than they thought. So on April 26th, they made it public & admitted the PSN problem was más serious than they anticipated. This is where I first heard about AnonOps, so I started an investigation on them CAREFULLY. I looked at there web page, browse there blogs, Learned there tactics, & even looked on youtube for them. It turns out AnonOps, is a group of protestors o freedom fighters that believe people should have the freedom to do anything tu want on the internet. This includes the freedom of hacking, plagerizing, pirating, and any other illegal things to do on the internet. Now if they feel threatened o some company does something they are against, they will attack them with a countdown and all(as shown on their website). These things may make AnonOps sound cruel but AnonOps dicho on youtube & blogs, "Are goal is to help people have más freedom on the internet." They also dicho on a youtube video for PSN users, "We are not aiming to attack costumers of Sony. This attack is aim soly at Sony & we will try our best not to effect the gamers, as this would defeat the purpose of our actions. If we do attack tu in any way, please note this was not our goal." As tu can see they weren't aiming to attack the PSN users but only Sony. But then why are over 75 million PSN users had there accounts hacked into? This either means AnonOps was lying o a rogue hacker who was mad at Sony, hacked it himself. To me, it is the rogue hacker because tu got to think Geohaut may have friends in the AnonOps organization. This is the end of Theory One.
Theory two: Revenge
After making a possible theory on the rogue hacker, I started thinking of other people who might have hacked the PSN. So I started investagating other artículos about any problems with Sony. Soon enough, I found an articulo por Chris Morris called, "Sony Online Entertainment issues rosado, rosa Slips". Now in this article, it explains how 205 of the 700 employees were issued rosado, rosa slips earlier this year. So these employees who were working there for at least 5 yrs, had good pay, & had a good life, were basicly told on a certain día to hit the road & find another job. Now out of 205 employees, do tu think at least a couple of them would have thoughts of getting revenge to Sony? Well, these guys may have decided to do it and figure out how Sony could loose money por shutting down the PSN. Since they were working on ONLINE ENTERTAINMENT, the guys would have known what to do in order to hack Sony, thus making sure their plan worked. They may have also decide to get money off of the PSN por stealing peoples personal info for their CREDIT CARD numbers. This is the end of Theory Two.
Theory Three: Conspiracy
I know this thought has cruzar, cruz peoples minds, "What if Sony was trying to cover up something?" So I decided to find out about this possible theory por trying to look up artículos and videos about it. Unfortunately the only bit of new information I found on this theory was from a youtube video called, "Playstation Network...Hacked?!" which explains this theory. With my old info on Geohut & Sony I basically helped o improved this theory out. Ok, apparently Sony was loosing money because of people pirating games off this experimental PSN.Well Sony had enough of it(this leads to the Geohut case) & decided to shut down the PSN to rearrange things. The only problem Sony had for doing this was that the gamers would be pretty upset about this & take their business elsewhere. So Sony(after hearing Anonops' threat) decided to make a story up say they have been hacked into. Once this hit the public, they knew they would lose money for the down service, so they put a "scare" in their story in hopes of bringing in más money, saying over 750 million users and climbing have their personal information hacked into. This is the end of Theory Three.
Please note that the information in front of tu are only THEORIES that I put togather while lectura artículos and looking up websites. Some of these theories maybe close to the truth o way far off it so don't get your hopes up. Finally the artículos & video enlaces are in the descripción below. Thanks for Reading!
