AUTHOR'S NOTE: As much as I wanted to write this in first person point of view, but I figured it is más suitable this way. This is just a short happening in the HQ. I kindly request tu to "Please Comment."
BOOM! Another huge explosion shook the HQ. Skipper, Private and Rico looked up from their cards then to the steel door, which stood firm for a segundo before falling adelante, hacia adelante dute to the blow.
"Sorry! I'll fix that!" exclaimed a still carbon covered Kowalski as he burst out the lab. He quickly picked up the door, reconnected it with the bearings on the muro before closing it and going back to his work.
"That's it!" Skipper threw his cards on the mesa, tabla and stood. "Kowalski! Get out here now! Double time!"
Kowalski obeyed, now clean as ever and stood in attention in front of his angry commandant.
"Its been two weeks, man! Everyday something blows up in your lab. At first its amusing because it delights Rico, but its getting on my nerves! tu have to lay off the science for a while Kowalski!" Skipper ranted. "Im closing down your lab for one week, no one goes in o gets out tht door tu hear me?"
"No please! Dont take away science from me! I need it!" Kowalski begged, his voice full of desperations, his flippers clasped together.
Skipper slapped him. "Yes, tu need to satisfy tu unending curiousity and your scientific ambitions! Those reasons are not enough!"
"Skipper there are many reasons why scientists soil tirelessly in their laboratories, not just their thirst of knowledge and ambitions."
The commander rolled his eyes "Oh really Kowalski? Then fine give me one reason, just one valid reason and I'll withdraw my decision."
Kowalski stood straight, his head high, his eyes avoiding others and focused only on the wall, and his flippers almost balled into fists on his sides. He began to speak in a cold voice. "For example, a scientist perhaps one of the most intelligent in the world, may once stand, shaking under the rain, that poured down from the sky. In his soul, it also rained hard, and it overflowed in his eyes. Long hace he may held someone in his arms and swore he will protect her from all harm. But suddenly too soon, he stood under a tree, in front of a tree, in front of a grave at dusk, unmoving there til dawn. Maybe from that moment on he toiled patiently and diligently in his lab, because he doesn't want it to happen again. He doesn't want to feel again how he stood there, hoping and praying that his loved one will wake up from that awful ordear. He doesnt want to dig another grave for the body of his love. He doesnt want again to be the scientist who couldnt find the cure to the mysterious disease that took her away, though how outrageously smart he is. How furiously he studied and worked to cure and save her life but couldnt do anything but hold her until she died, unable to protect her. Maybe he began to work from that día on because he doesnt want to feel helpless, worthless and powerless ever again. That siguiente time fate challenges him he can fulfill the promise to protect the ones close to him now. Perhaps he now works to earn advantages to protect his team mates who he considered as brothers and friends." He felt a tear fall down his cheek, and he quickly brushed it away. He looked at his team, meeting each of their gaze. Private was on the verge of tears, Rico looked away and Skipper's angry expression was replaced with sympathy. He waited for anyone to speak but only silence ensued.
"That could be one of the reasons a scientist might toin in his lab, because of a past that haunted him so. But tragedies shouldnt be mourned over long, but taken like an inspiration and a lesson. If you'll need me, Ill be in my lab." Kowalski again disappeared in his lab, which during months time, no explosion came from within.
