A Smoldering Sam Heughan Highlights Exclusive New ‘Outlander’ Trailer 

We’re almost there, “Outlander” fans! It’s just a few short weeks to go before Starz brings us back to the lush Scottish Highlands of 1743 – and we reunite with impassioned and perpetually endangered lovers Claire (Caitriona Balfe) and Jamie (Sam Heughan).

This latest trailer, exclusive to Speakeasy, is a dream come true for any Sam Heughan fan, a.k.a. the Heughligans. The minute-long clip features a Jamie voice-over – and if it sounds at all familiar, it’s because it’s an abbreviated version of the monologue from the opening scene of the April 4 midseason premiere episode. But instead of a peaceful riverside setting, this time Jamie’s words narrate an action-packed trailer of smoldering glances, ravenous kisses and protective embraces.

There is a bit of a tone shift in Jamie’s narration this time around, however, especially when the video veers into some of the scenes from the new episodes. As we already know, the second half of the first season promises to be much darker, so when we see Claire running with a terrified expression – and Jamie’s face at the opposite end of a gun barrel – it becomes clear that the Highland honeymoon may indeed be over for these two.

“Outlander” returns on Saturday, April 4 at 9 p.m. ET on Starz.
