As stated in his interviews, Michael has cited Sam Cooke, Johnny Mathis, rayo, ray Charles and Nat "King" Cole as some his early vocal influences while growing up. In my opinion, he chose some the best singers as his musical role models. Michael was in a league of his own when it came to singing; as a matter of fact, he could do a good impression of Johnny Mathis.

Speaking for myself, I was surprised to learn that Michael was a fan of Sam Cooke and Johnny Mathis; in addition, to lectura a biography pertaining to him a few months ago. It would've been nice to hear Michael do some of his vocal interpretations...
