Stoick would proudly tell anyone who wanted to know-which wasn't many, considering that he trumpeted this to everyone in sight-that when he was a boy,his father had told him to smash his head against a rock and it had división, split in two.Of course,he'd left out the part where he had burst into tears. And the part where he was rushed to hospital. And the part where he had to wear a cast for two months. But the main message was the same:it taught him what vikings could do.They could crush mountains, level forests and tame seas. From the time they were born, they were built to be strong. To be brave. To be fighters. But some of them weren't built to be strong and Valiente and fighters. Some were weak and cowardly and lovers. They weren't built to be vikings.Vikings grew up to hunt, fight and kill.He had gotten all this information from a rock.A single, plain rock.
"You can't stop him,Stoick. You can only prepare him.I know it seems hopeless, but the truth is tu won't always be around to protect him. He's going to get out there again. He's probably out there now."
Maybe that was true.Maybe he should prepare him.But first he needed to test how much preparing he needed.Suddenly he got an idea.A wild,crazy,stupid,ridiculous,eye-
rolling, scoffing, groaning idea.It probaly wouldn't work and he would probaly not gain anything from it but it was an idea nonetheless.

"Hiccup."
It wasn't a pregunta o demand. It was something else entirely.
Stoick had done many crazy, ridiculous, wild things. But he had never done anything stupid and wasn't planning to because he was not stupid. So when he heaved a rock into the living room,to prevent this from being stupid,he had a first aid kit por his side.At best,Hiccup would get a headache. At worst,he would break his skull like he had.Better to be seguro than sorry.
"Smash it."It was only after the words had left his mouth that he realised how stupid that sounded."I mean, smash your forehead on that rock."
Okay,so maybe that sounded better in his head.He only realised how ridiculous that sounded when spoken out loud.
"Oh,I see. This is what your dad told tu to do and now you're testing it on me."
Damn.
Five hours later,Stoick finally convinced Hiccup to smash the rock when he promised he would let him stay up an hora later for 2 days, give him double pocket money, take him to his favourite restaurant and buy him a full set of weapons if he smashed the rock.
Hey,desperate times called for desperate measures.
The only thing Stoick could think of as he heard Hiccup's wails flood the household was that he was glad he had his first aid kit.
Stoick almost succeeded in not looking at the rock as he tended to hiccup's forehead.
Almost.
They had a long way to go.
Maybe dragon training wasn't such a bad idea.
