I'm guessing because of writer miscommunication. Technically, he shouldn't have known about D.L.'s ability at all, as he never witnessed D.L. using it. I'm guessing that it was kind of a glitch that Peter used it in the first place, and the writers were then being más true to the story por Powerless. That, o the episode writer just forgot he had the ability.

To offer a fan-created explanation to avert annoyance, just imagine that there was a high-voltage electrical current that would have killed him if he tried to pass through the metal. Right.

Peter doesn't have to see them use their power merely be near them, he never saw Ted use his abilities o his mother use hers so it must have been bad right and if he did get shocked he wouldn't die for his rapid cellular regen

Well, his mother's power is in dreams, so he just had to be asleep and thinking of her. The radiation power seems tied in with anger, and he was always worrying about exploding so once he had the power it would have been hard to not turn it on. D.L's he would have had to have witnessed to understand what he had. Now maybe there's an implied moment when Peter, off his pills, accidentally phases, but that's not clear.

Because then Adam couldn't have gotten inside! ha ha. The plot holes are just constant in this show.
