In general yes, but as Hagrid's Thestrals are well trained, no really dangerous ones appear in the story.

Well I think that like any animal, under the right circumstances a thestral would become dangerous. I mean, the Hogwarts gang and Hagrid treat them very well, but if provoked I'm sure a thestral could do some damage. Horses certainly can, and they're what thestrals were based on. So yes, thestrals can be dangerous.

I think they could be dangerous, however, I don't believe one would attack a human without reason. I think they prefer to be left alone.

well its hard to say all animals can be dangerous and we have to keep in mind that the ones we did see were more use to people hagrid luna ect.
