How were Harry and Hermione not spotted por their past selves when they used the Time Turner?

I watched the Prisoner of Azkaban yesterday, and I was thinking that when Harry and Hermione are setting Buckbeak free, surely the past versions of Harry, Ron and Hermione would have seen them releasing him?
Because in the scene before where Buckbeak is being executed, the trio are watching it from on parte superior, arriba of the hill. So surely the trio would have seen Harry and Hermione freeing Buckbeak when they were up there? :/
Maybe I'm just over-analyzing it, but it seems strange to me.

They were very careful not to be seen por their past selves, o anyone else. They waited til dulce de azúcar, fudge was lectura the charges inside Hagrid's house, to ensure no one would be looking out the window because they all had to be watching dulce de azúcar, fudge and listening to him. Their past selves had actually moved on and were approaching the willow por that time. They only heard what they assumed was the execution - the executioner swinging his axe into the fence in frustration and then Hagrid's howl of joy, which they thought had been grief.
