I'm absolutely astonished lectura my way through Harry Potter Wiki (harrypotter.wiki.com). It's tons of information which I could spend days lectura on. But how the hell do I know this stuff-or some of it- isn't pure inventions por god- knows- who? I understand anyone can editar the page, so where does it all come from? J.K. would be the ideal answer? Please take this pregunta seriously, cause I don't want to peek behind the magical curtain for false background information!

Can tu just read background information on Pottermore, o do tu have to play your way to it?

tu have to play your way to it. I would suggest checking out www.hp-lexicon.org - its a brilliant site with just about all the information there is out there and its all cited so tu can trust that its true.

I haven't really looked at the site tu mentioned, but I'm sure pottermore would be a good cross-reference.

pottermore is brilliant, of course, but tu do have to go through and find enlaces to the más detailed pieces of information while tu play the games.

The Harry Potter Wiki has administrators which would alter a page back to its original state if it was spammed, and possibly lock a page - preventing edits from non-members o non-admins - if spamming happened frequently. If there's any controversial editing, it often gets discussed and backed up in the page's talk section. They also often ask for citations saying where information is from.
