Guinea Pigs Pregunta

How can i get my pig to stop attacking me?

My new guinea pig, Jasper, is very aptly named because he loves to bite...just like a vampire! Every time I stick a hand in the cage, he strikes, even if it's just to give him fresh water o food. And he's even worse if I try to pet him o hold him. I've had 4 pigs before him so I know that they nip sometimes but I've never had one just attack like that. Why is he doing that? And más to the point, how can i teach him to stop?

Trying giving him some comida he really likes before u try anything else put it down away from him so he cant bite u, while he busy munching away try refilling his bowl and water then after a while try stroking him, after he has got use to that then try picking him up. Having a big hand come at u has to be scary for a guinea pig lol. Also i have one of this snuggle pockets that u can put him in so he cant scratch o bite u :) go on chucklebunnies.net and see for urself :) hope this helps x

I don't know because my guinea pigs don't do that. I haven't been bitten por any of my two guineas. They just amor to lick my hand, and sometimes their teeth would touch my skin. Maybe tu scared him when tu first brought him home. All I know is that guineas rarely bite. Yours isa very isolated condition. But, don't give up. Guinea pigs are gentle in nature. maybe he is just scared. MAybe tu can calm him down por giving him treats, and as he is eating, stroke him gently in the back. If he purrs, that's a good start. Talk to him often with a calm voice. Do not scare him.

Well, guinea pigs sure like carrots. Sometimes when he bites me, it just means he's hungry.
