Frankly, I find this pick offensive, as it is implying that Dan haters have no legitimate reasons to hate him. Well, we do, not that ANYONE needs to justify their opinions to you. But I'll give it a stab.
I hate Dan because I find him to be a judgmental hypocrite. Ever since season 1, we've seen him act like he's better than the UESers, when he's done things that are just as bad as things that they have done. Not to mention, it has been revealed in the s4 finale that he's wanted to be on the inside this whole time, and he's deliberately tried to infiltrate their circle. All the while making snide comments about them compared to his "Brooklyn righteousness". I hate the way he's treated Vanessa and Serena, and the way he couldn't make up his mind about them, yet Serena had to be the one to apologize to him for not being able to make her mind up. I hate his white knight complex. And frankly, I simply find him boring, which contributes to my dislike.

Is that legitimate enough for you? See, I have plenty of reasons not to like Dan- they don't even involve Dair.

even though I'm a huge CB fan I don't hate the guy, maybe sometimes he did stuff I didn't approve or he came a little judgmental but I like Dan..hes way more interesting than Nate will ever be...

At the beginning of the show I really liked him. He had this great wit to him and I loved his banter with a lot of the other characters. But as the seasons kept going he seemed to be losing his Dan charm that I loved at the beginning of the series. He just seems so 1 dimensional now. I don't hate him, but I don't like him as a much as used to now. And yeah, my reasons have nothing to do with Dair.

xochuckandblair, well said. I think gg would be a lot better without Dan and the writers trying so hard to make me like him. He pretty much ruins gg to me.

Hate is a really strong word, I don't hate him.. But I don't like him either. I agree with most of the reasons xochuckandblair said, and also with ratava123, I kinda liked him in s1 he was so cute and funny, then he began to be judgamental and boring. I also would love him to go away to China or something haha, because I want Serenate more than everything! And with Dan around maybe Serenate can't be endgame, and they're my favorite GG couple!

I had my problems with Dan during the first season, because of how he treated Serena in 1x02.
I think one reason for his behaviour was that he felt like he wasn't good enough for her, so he protejcted his problem with the UES on her.

I never had a problem with the fact that he didn't have a high opinion of them at first, since his first impression of the UES was his little sister almost getting raped, everyone at Constance ignoring him and Nate getting his Usher spot due to his name. But it was wrong to take that out on Serena.

But we've actually seen him grow since then. He was there for Blair this season when she needed someone, same goes for Eric.

And I don't think Gossip Girl would work without him. (Simiar to the O.C.) GG is about two worlds coliding. Dan (and Jenny) were the viwers introduction to the UESiders. It's what started everything.
So without Dan, Jenny etc. it would just be a show about rich spoiled kids, with no chance of learning from/accepting the other.

I did hate him. but when he was around Blair, she brought up the best of him. I realised he's not that bad.
when I did: didn't like the way he looks very much, he had so much scenes for me and he was boring me, I was never interested in any of his storylines besides Dair. he just always annoyed me with everything he did

The DB arc made me hate even more because he just ruined Blair to me

He isn't interesting anymore and that's enough for me to dislike him but i don't hate him..I wish there was an "indifferent" option :)

Dan is the most intersting guy in GG. Nate has been boring since season 3 (but I still like him) and Chuck is also boring with his daddy problems & the bass industry!

i could never hate him. he is the most interesting male character on the show. chuck is a sucker, the chair dilemma is boring, pathetic and annoying, so are his daddy issues and his stupid hotel. nate doesnt even have good stories to remember. well, i liked him with juliet though

I don't have anything with the Dan/Dair's fans,who don't tell stupid things about Chair.I don't have anything with your ship,I respect your opinions.But you should respect yours too!I'm so off of the Dan's fans to say "Chuck done so many bad things.He's a jerk.". Look,like xochuckandblair said, he judge anybody. Remember when Dan ruined the all changes of Blair to go to Yale? And what he did in the first season with Serena? He didn't even try to understand her situation or what she did. I don't hate him,but I don't like him.He was bad with Vanessa in the end of season.Please don't compare him with all the others characters because Blair,Chuck,Nate and Serena maybe done mistakes,but they were there for each others.When Dan didn't liked something about his friend/his girlfriend, he begin to judge everyone. So, I'm not a hater, but you have to think about the mistakes of your favourite character before to talk about the others.

LOVE HIM!

Dan is my least favorite character on the whole show. There are a few that come close. But he is so judgmental and always complains about being an outsider, while he is actually almost the same as the rest of the characters. In the beginning he hates Blair for scheming and exposing secrets about her friends but in season 5 and 6 he writes rude things about all of the people who ended up caring about him. Also everyone looks down on Serena for dating (and allegedly sleeping with) a teacher. But actually Dan was the only one to actually sleep with a teacher. And while he looks down on all the other characters for posting things about their friends on gossip girl he is the actual gossip girl witch makes him just as bad as the rest of them. He also pines after Blair when she is married and I find Dair disgusting. His hair is nasty and so is his chest hair. He desperately wants to be part of the upper east side world, and he actually gets in, for a while his family is very rich because his father marries Lily. He hooks up with his step sister which I know is also Serena's fault but is still gross non the less. I end up supporting every bad opinion Blair and Chuck have about Dan. I feel the whole book/show would have been better if the whole Humphrey family didn't exist. By the end of the show I was so depressed Serena married him and I really hoped he would disappear or end up in jail anything to kill of Dan Humphrey.

I hate Dan for dating Blair. First he Hates her then he becomes obsessed with her basically bending over backwards for her. He gets mad at Blair for not saying I love you when he did the exact same thing to Serena. He gets mad at Serena for recording the sex tape and basically sends Serena into a drug binge. I hate how he's still lusting after Blair even after she Chose Chuck. Then when he finally realizes he doesn't have a chance with Blair he acts like Serena has been the love of his life all this time. Blair is also a bad friend sure Serena slept with Nate but Serena felt so bad about it she left town plus Nate never really likes Blair he was always in love with Serena. I also hate Blairs bad attitude towards Serena. I don't know why Serena Ever forgave them especially Dan Humpreys.

I hate because he act like he's so different from the others but the truth he's worst ,he's so judgemental and hypocriatc and liar , he done a lot of mistakes and then he think he have the right to write about his friends and reaveling their secrets ,how about his ?!,he so messed up when he don't like things about his grilfriends and friends , he act like he is the innocent one when the truth is he isn't true to himself or people and he has too many faces , he ruin everything and evryone
