Can anybody tell me What The Hell happened to Mr. Kim?

It's one of the urban myths of the show, kind of like never seeing Wilson's face in "Home Improvement", o Arnold's last name in "Hey Arnold". In the beginning of the show, Lane used to mention "My parents" when referring to her guardians, not "My Mom" o "My Parent" singular. We assumed there was an intent for a Mr. Kim, but as time passed and the Palladino's never filled the role for him, there really wasn't a suitable explanation for his presence/absence, so they never wrote him in, and Lane started just talking about her mom.

In the context of the story, however, we have to assume Mrs. Kim was married since she dicho so and Lane wasn't a bastard child because that goes against everything Mrs. Kim has ever said. Basically, he exists in theory, lol! I hope that explains it somewhat.

I addressed this with Jess Mariano's personal opinion on the subject in one of the fanfics I'm writing. When Jess is accused of "being Mrs. Kim" because he's being strict with his daughter, this is his reply: "Huh-uh," he replied assuredly. “Mrs. Kim is Hitler. Mrs. Kim has a husband no one has seen for the last 20+ years! I checked! Personally, I think he’s hidden under the floorboards of Mrs. Kim’s room! I am not Mrs. Kim!”

Yes, I know this isn't helpful, but it's funny! ;-D

I asked the same pregunta at first but as I watch and re-watch the Gilmore Girls episodes I find that it's just like alot of other shows when they first start out that the characters are mentioned in the first few episodes but then they fall off the face of the earth as if we're never going to notice when we watch re-runs. Notice Kirk, how he plays different characters the first season but later when Kirk is a regular even mentioning how he was Miss Patty's student as a child. They also did the same thing when Anna Nardinie comes into play as Luke's former lover and mother of his daughter he never knew he had. She actually came on the scene in the third season (I think) when Jess Mariano leaves Stars Hollow to find his Dad in California. She is his Dad's live in girlfriend only at that time she has a different name and a really short spiked blond haircut. It cracks me up how they think we don't notice this stuff. True Gilmore Girl fans notice!
