We Bet You Didn’t Notice These Frozen Wardrobe Details
By now, who isn’t envious of Elsa’s glistening ice queen gown or Anna’s luscious velvet green coronation dress?
fashion became one of the most talked about wardrobes in film history. Everyone from toddlers to adults wear fashion inspired by the film. Designers were no exception, as runways were filled with Elsa-inspired gowns, and the Internet became flooded with Anna DisneyBounds.
After you’ve watched the film as many times as we have, you begin to notice the smallest details about their wardrobe. Disney employs the most talented artists and animators in the world; artists who pay very close attention to detail. Despite how long each detail takes to create, the more intricacy, the more the film comes to life.
Take a look at some of these details you may have missed from the fashion of
The film’s animators are very careful about creating a character’s wardrobe, and make sure to include all layers to an outfit. For example, Anna wears a light creamy green petticoat under her signature coronation dress.
You can also see that the outer layer to her gown has a box pleated skirt.
The Duke of Weselton seems to have magic glasses. His nose must be holding them up, because the glasses don’t have any arms to them!
Anna’s berry-colored cape is embellished with a dark purple pom pom trim.
A similar color fabric is also used on Elsa’s coronation cape. In this scene, all eyes are on the Duke of Weselton. The question is, are they looking at his terrible toupee, or those must-have over-the-knee boots?
The detail on Elsa’s shoes gives Cinderella’s iconic glass slipper a good run. We think shoe designer Sophia Webster should create a pair of heels like these.
While Hans might not turn out to be the great prince we thought he was, he does have one of the most beautifully drawn wardrobes. The gold epaulettes on Hans’ shoulders, which look like a very heavy metal, are a sign of his royal status.
Kristoff’s wardrobe, on the other hand, is much more rugged. However, we bet that the fur trim detail on his sleeves and collar, and the shearling interior of his gloves, were done with impeccable patience.
Another sign of Kristoff’s ruggedness is shown very faintly by the patches on his elbows. You can see from the dark uneven stitching that this handiwork may have been done by Kristoff himself. This is just another example of the attention to detail the
wardrobe animators created to make a bigger picture story behind Kristoff’s character.
We see that Anna wears three ribbon strands in her coronation hairdo. However, it’s very difficult to capture the detailing of the pin that holds the ribbons together. It is scalloped like the edge of her dress, with laser cut detailing.
Anna’s signature evergreen dress features a very thin lace trim at the hem of the shoulders. It’s just one of those features the Disney artists could have left out, but designed to give Anna’s gown even more realistic features.
We even faintly see the trim on young Anna’s nightgown.
For up-close clips, the animators took time to show every stitch and wrinkle. Check out how realistic the embroidery on young Anna’s dress looks.
Even Sven’s “outfit”, or canvas harness and leather strap, is perfectly realistic.
