So I was hanging out on my computer this evening, watching some videos and browsing on Fanpop, when I noticed something that disturbed me. In not one, but two different spots. I discovered several examples of what I believe to be "Ghost Accounts".
"Ghost Accounts" are what I'm calling additional accounts created por an already existing fanpop member to skew the results of a pick o an argument in their favor. I have read things publicado por other Fanpoppers suggesting their existence in the past, but hadn't knowingly spotted any for myself. Tonight I believe I spotted three different people doing this.
The first example I discovered through a series of picks created por a user that I had never seen around before. I'm all for new users, so I answered the picks and made some comments. Within the comentario sections of these picks, I noticed two other users that I had never seen before. The thing is, the three users didn't always answer the same way, but their comentarios were always similarly rude. I decided to compare all three users and I discovered that they had much in common. They had all joined fanpop this month, none of them belonged to any spots, aside from their iconos - their fanpop user pages were all blank, and they had all answered picks from the exact same four spots, and only those four spots.
I found the segundo example within a pick that had been answered 444 times. This pick had three pages of comments, and on the segundo page, I saw the following: Three comentarios that dicho the exact same thing, in a row. All three user names were different but fit the same pattern, Girls-first-name followed immediately por a two digit number. An example of what they looked like is "Mary25". And all three belonged to users that had no icons, contributions, o information to speak of. Not to mention they didn't belong to a single spot.
The third, and luckily, final example I noticed was within the exact same pick as the segundo example. As I mentioned, this particular pick had three pages of comments. After lectura through them, I went back to check the results of the pick. I found the option that came in segundo place particularly odd because in those three pages of comments, I hadn't seen a single one in support of it. This option had been added to the pick por a user other than the picks creator. I went ahead and clicked on the person who added this option only to discover, tu guessed it, that their user page was blank! In fact, this was the only pick they had ever answered.
Obviously, I have no way of knowing if these are in fact "Ghost Accounts", but the coincidences seem overwhelmingly in favor of that being the case. Since I had never before noticed behavior such as this, and I noticed it three whole times today, I decided to think of three reasons that creating these accounts to answer picks is just plain silly. Without further ado:
#1 - tu Know Better!
It's not a presidential election, fanpop is for fun! There is no point in seeing your choice win if you know it isn't genuine. Do tu really think that seeing your favorito! thing "win" a pick will have más impact on someone than lectura your well thought-out, well written comentarios would?
#2 - It's disrespectful to Other Users
There are two main functions to posting a pick. One is that tu get to share your opinions with others. The other is that tu get to see what other people think. por tampering with the results of a pick, tu deprive its maker of the latter por making dicho results inaccurate. I know that when I post a pick, what I most enjoy afterwards is lectura the comentarios that it spawned from others. It's great to make your opinion known, but use comentarios to do so. I guarantee that they will be read.
#3 - Being in the Minority is OK
So what if your opinion is not the popular one. Take pride in the fact that you're an independent thinker o that tu see something where few others do. o better yet, flex your debate skills por trying to persuade others to see your point.
So those are my reasons. I know that most of tu who are lectura this are cool, respectful people who realize the idiocy of committing the aforementioned act. I was just annoyed with what I saw tonight so I had to release my irritation somewhere. Thanks for listening.

I did it again.
I accidentally hit the "start chat" tab again.
And couldn't remember how make it go away.
I've had this problem a few times before and have to re-learn it every time.
For some reason, I'm always under the impression that the solution lies under my perfil settings.
It does not.
So now there is an articulo to remind me, and anyone else who needs it, how to get rid of this dang thang.
Step 1: Under the "contacts" tab, click "I am online." The words, not the pencil. If tu click the pencil, it will complicate things and you'll have to reload the page.
Step 2: Click "Log out."
It's not the most obvious way out, but it's easy once tu finally remember how to do it, so I hope this helps cut down on some frustration. (If not for you, at least for me siguiente time I accidentally open it and frantically buscar for a solution. =P)

Yeah, I know this is kinda lame, but this is all I could think up! :'(
Just go to an article, (or look the person who tu want to message up) and click their name near the top. fanpop will mostrar tu their perfil page and scroll down until tu find the "Message" tab. Click it and ...voila!
Just type your message and send it. If they message tu back, your bandeja de entrada will tell you! Try it!
Sorry if this was lame! :(
But please remember to

por the way this is my first soapbox
Ok, I usually don't make user guides but this one needs to be made. I have seen a lot of picks and a lot of them are boring o annoying. Here is a lista of steps to help tu out.
1. Try to have más than three respuestas if possible. If the pregunta is "Who should Jim be with?" Put, Karen and Pam, and then put an answer like neither o Katy.
2.Always have pictures for the pregunta if it isn't a yes, no, o maybe question. Pictures bring in más fans and make the picks más interesting.
3. Try to ask preguntas that people haven't already asked and preguntas that people will be interested in. Don't make it boring.
Now these are the three golden steps to making a good, quality pick on fanpop. If tu feel I need to add anything, then please leave it in the comments.

I'm guessing a lot of people have all ready have found this problem but if tu don't understand then it's like this:
One día I decided to create a new club of something that didn't exist as a club yet but I couldn't find the 'Create a club' button. Trust me I looked high and low for the thing but couldn't find it. When I logged out of my account at last there I saw it, the 'Create a club button' so when I clicked on it they of course asked me to sign back in but when I did I was the same position I was in before clicking.
For some people this problem don't seem to happen but for people like me who want to create clubes but can't because the button is unavailable well it's frustrating. I've been looking abound for some kind of answer but the only thing that came up was a link link
this only leads to tu having to sign in again. I don't know if it's the signing in thing that's the problem but it really shouldn't be.
Please fix this problem Fanpop!

Yesterday, I was fanpoping. I come across the link spot- And went to videos. link is what I saw. There were manzana, apple pie videos there. publicado por Hulu.
link are some imágenes por other fanpopers reporting this.
Hulu's videos should NOT be done por a webcrawler. (or whatever tu call it) Dave, either have a manual team do hulu's videos, o dont do it at all.
EDIT: as amazondebs says in the comments, fanpop isen't even getting paid for hulu's videos. What is the purpose of having them here?
(Another) EDIT: más of this maddness. and in link spot!
