A possible future Disney Mickey Mouse and friends classic
This round is the segundo win for my fellow co-runner of the contest, cruella. Along with my fanfic, From Paws To Thumbs, this fanfiction was one of the stories that started the idea of making this contest. It's no surprise that this round was won por cruella, the characters truly stay true to their original selves. However, she doesn't shy away from adding her own personal touch to the characters, which is what helps make the characters and story work. Without further delay, here is my interview with cruella.

In your last interview, tu dicho tu didn’t think tu would ever win a round. How does it feel to have been wrong and actually win two rounds?

It feels great! I'm really happy to have won not one but two rounds!

You write fanfiction, so tu know how hard it is to keep characters true to their original selves. How does it feel that people think tu were the best at keeping the original character true to themselves?

It feels amazing. Keeping the characters in character was probably the hardest part of escritura the story for me, so to win this round is a real honor.

Who do tu think was the hardest character for tu to write and why?

Surprisingly Scrooge was the hardest. He really has quite a complex personality, which is why I amor him. But in some situations he comes across as a grumpy greedy old man, while in others he's a sweet shy generous old man. It was really hard to keep that 'balance', especially since I like the kinder gentler side of him, but of course his flaws are what adds to his complexity.

Who was the easiest character to write and why?

I guess I'd say margarita was the easiest, since she's pretty 'one dimensional', her personality is basically an egocentric, ditz. But I did try to add a little depth to her personality.

Which of the characters was the most fun to write and why?

They were all pretty fun to write about, but definitely Scrooge. Like I dicho above he was a challenge but that was part of the fun. I just loved escritura about about such a complex character, and mostrando him mature through story.

Which of the characters, if any, was the most boring/least fun to write and why?

I guess Huey, Dewey, and Louie. I've just never cared much for them as characters, so I didn't really enjoy escritura about them as much as the others.

How did tu make sure that tu stayed true to the original characters but also added your own personal touch to it?

I do my best to keep their original personalities, but to give it my personal touch, I mostrar them in situations that they've never been in before. I also try to explore relationships between characters that haven't been explored very much, that I find interesting, like Scrooge and Minnie.

A lot of people could argue that Mickey is out of character because he’s being rude, obnoxious, jealous, and putting a video game before the más important things in his life. That’s pretty different from the Mickey ratón everyone knows. How do tu feel about this subject and how would tu explain it to people who criticized it?

While he is somewhat out of character, he has done all of the things I had him doing in different cartoons. So he is a little out of character in that all of his negative qualities are mostrando right now, but not completely.

I saw in a House of ratón short where Mickey actually got addicted to a video game and was ignoring Minnie on their date. Was that what inspired tu to do this o did tu just think of the idea yourself?

Yes that was one of the caricaturas that inspired me. Like I dicho above I've seen him doing all the things he did in this story in different shorts. Like, in another House of ratón cartoon, Minnie hires Jose Carioca (one of Donald's friends) to make a cena for Mickey, and he's sure that they're dating.

What’s the hardest thing about escritura pre-existing characters in fanfiction and why?

What I've always found that the hardest thing is, is not letting your personal feeling about a character influence of tu portray them. Also, keeping a character in character and knowing how they would behave in situation that isn't normal for them, is very hard.

What’s the easiest thing about escritura pre-existing characters in fanfiction and why?

The easiest thing is that tu don't have to go to the trouble make up a whole new character, and diseño a new personality. But honestly I think that escritura about new characters is easier, since they don't really have an established personality.

What is it about these characters that make tu want to write fanfictions about them?

I've always loved the classic Mickey and friends and DuckTales characters. I know this is just my opinion but I've always found them much más interesting and complex, and the disney Princesses and disney Fairies. I wish that disney would do más with them, so i write my own stories about them.

These characters, minus Webby and Max, are creations made por Walt disney himself. How do tu think he would feel about the way tu wrote these characters? (be honest)

Well I honestly couldn't say, since it's so different then the Mickey ratón caricaturas that were on when he was alive. I kind of doubt he'd like it.

If Walt disney loved what tu did to these characters, how would tu react?

I'd feel very honored, if Walt disney himself loved what I did with the characters.

If Walt disney hated what tu did to these characters, how would tu react?

I'd be a little sad, but it is just a difference of opinion.

Are tu proud of how tu wrote the characters in this story? (why and be honest)

I am very pleased with how they turned out. Like i dicho it was quite a challenge to keep them in character, especially in the new situations they were shown in, but I think they turned out well.

Part of staying true to the characters is also being able to write their relationships with the other characters in a believable way. Was this hard o easy to do and why?

Some were easier than others. The ones like Goofy and Max, that are shown interacting a lot in cartoons, were easy to portray. Because I already have a good idea of how they act toward each other. But the ones like Scrooge and Minnie that aren't shown often were a lot harder.

Which relationship was the most fun to write and why?

Scrooge and Webby was definitely the most fun. I've always loved their relationship and thought it was very heartwarming. Unfortunately a lot of Uncle Scrooge fans hate it and say it makes him 'too soft', so it doesn't get explored very often. So it was nice to able to write about it my self.

Which relationship was the least fun to write and why?

Minnie and margarita probably the least fun, just because I've always found their relationship kind of strange and unbelievable. I mean why does Minnie put out up with margarita using her as a 'doormat' all the time?

Some people might say that Minnie being closer friends with Scrooge, than Daisy, is a bit out of character. What would tu say to those fans?

I guess it is a little out of character, for margarita not to be Minnie's number one BFF, but like I said, their relationship never made a lot of sense to me. So honestly Minnie seems a lot más 'in character' when she's not letting margarita walk all over her. While some people might think a close friendship between a young, middle-class woman and a old, wealthy man is a bit strange; I find it a lot less weird then the friendship between Minnie and Daisy. I mean think about how much más similar she to him personality wise, than she is to Daisy.

What inspired tu to make them so close?

They are occasionally shown as close friends in comics and shorts, and I always thought it seemed like an interesting relationship that deserved exploring.

What inspired tu to write this story?

I was actually watching Toddlers and Tiaras when I came up with the idea, of doing a pageant story about the classic disney characters. In the episode I was watching there was a single father and his daughter and their relationship reminded me a lot of Scrooge and Webby. So I thought it would be cute if did a pageant story about them. After that there were lots of little things that gave me ideas to add to the story, like different gossip stories, and disney cartoons.

What do tu think is the problem with fanfiction writers when it comes to escritura pre-existing characters?

I think that a lot them let their like o dislike of a character influence how they're going to portray them. Like if there's a character that they amor they'll get rid of the characters bad qualities and mostrar them as perfect/flawless. Also if there's a character they hate they'll mostrar them as having no good qualities.

Who do tu think are the best and worst fanfiction writers you’ve seen? (not just on fanpop but on all websites and be honest)

No offense to any fanfiction authors but I haven't read that many good fanfics. But the best fanfiction I've read is probably por KataraLover. He has very good ideas and is very at keeping his characters in character. (side-note from KataraLover: Oh stop it, you're making me blush. I'm flattered!)

I've read a lot of bad ones, but the worst one I'd say is AnimationNut. He/she wrote a DuckTales fanfiction where Scrooge is a stereotypical rich 'parent' who throws money at the kids and never spends time with them and Webby is a spoiled rich brat.

You’re also a judge for the contest, so if tu were allowed to vote for yourself, would you? (be honest)

Yes I would have. Sorry if I sound vain but I think did a good job with the characters.

Do tu believe tu deserved to win? (be honest)

Yes I do, but I think there are other contestants that deserve it too.
