It used to be that tu had to type the "at sign" (@) followed por the person's name in a status update window, and then facebook would present tu a lista of friends from your friends lista as a pull-down. You'd then select the name tu wanted and it would appear in your status update as a hyperlink to that user's perfil (and tag).

This week, however, facebook launched a new version of the tagging feature, so that it attempts to recognize when tu are typing a friend's name WITHOUT entering the @ first. So now you'll get that drop-down menu of friends when you're typing. This makes it much easier to add etiquetas to your status update, whether tu want to add a tag o not.
