Alright, I'm gonna try to hold back on statements regarding the backlash this film... very unfairly... received months prior to its release. So many people doubted this one. Well, now that I've finally seen it, I'm gonna tell tu all what I thought... again, I'm gonna try to mention the backlash as little as possible.

Alright, so here's the story. Anna and Elsa are the princesses of the kingdom a Arendelle. Elsa has been born with the power to control ice and snow, and when she ends up accidentally hurting Anna with her ice powers, she is forbidden from ever using them again. She finds it so hard to control her power that she shuts herself off from the world in fear of ever hurting anyone again. However, during her coronation, she loses control and fills the world in a seemingly endless Winter and it's up to Anna to sort things out with her and end this.

Everything I just revealed is pretty obvious from the trailers and doesn't even reveal too much. I didn't even mention some of the other stuff. But I'll get into my thoughts on that soon. The story as far as escritura and execution goes feels like a classic Walt disney film combined with something from the disney renaissance. It's very well written and very well thought out. But as I've stated before, even great stories can be ruined por weak characters... thankfully, this film has none of that... well, almost none of that.

The characters are very likable, well-developed and interesting. Anna's a very likable character with her constantly upbeat attitude but at the same time is a little naive. She even falls for a prince after just learning his name. His name is Hans. I'll go into him later. The lead male, Kristoff, is also likable in his own right, going against the usual cliches often associated with male amor interests. The romance between him and Anna, admittedly, doesn't take as much time to develop as Rapunzel and Eugene, but it's still very believable in the end. His reindeer, Sven, is also likable though not quite on the level of Maximus. He actually doesn't act as much like Maximus as people thought he would... oh well, I still enjoyed his presence as Kristoff's companion.

Guess I may as well go into Olaf, and okay, I haven't mentioned the backlash too much, so it's worth noting this guy got a lot of unfair treatment before the film came out. The first time anyone saw him was in a cheesy teaser involving slapstick between him and Sven, which por the way never happens in the movie. (The flor gag is near the end, but it doesn't play out like everyone thought it would) In the trailers, all they showed him doing was generic, cliched comic relief stuff, but actually, he is probably one of the most likable disney sidekicks in the history of ever. He's not annoying but actually very sweet. He's a bit naive, wanting to experience heat. Somewhere along the way, tu get the impression he knows what's gonna happen to him but he doesn't care as long as his friends are happy, and I really like that. He also symbolises Anna and Elsa's internal struggle and ends up playing a much bigger role and even I thought he would. (He's actually introduced in a very early scene)

Elsa is a great character, easily one of Disney's best villains, mainly because... she's not really evil. She's misunderstood and depressed and has to deal with her own inner demons, making her a very complex character. I loved every moment involving her.

Time to go into the weak link of this film now, and that's Hans. I didn't mind him throughout most of the film. He was obviously a take on the classic amor interest from the old days but at the same time, his corazón was in the right place... then they throw in this plot twist involving him near the end of the film that made me hate him. I wouldn't have minded this twist so much except, much like Rapunzel's sudden transformation from loving Gothel to hating her, it feels forced and really contrived. Like, tu see how this guy acts throughout the film up to that point and it makes no sense. It feels like this guy was just added to create más conflict that wasn't really needed, and he's the one thing preventing this movie from being perfect. And it's not a bad twist, either. It gets across a great message and helps with Anna's development. Just... the execution reminded me of M. Night's plot twists. Thankfully, this twist does make for a really good climax, but even so...

Now onto the animations. The trailers didn't make them look that great, but oh my god, this movie is absolutely breath-taking. I remember lectura a review saying this proves CG can be beautiful... that is an understatement! This is absolutely gorgeous, and absolute work of art! I thought enredados was disney finally perfecting that CG look, but this... oh my god, this was just incredible! There were so many moments where my jaw was dropped during this movie. Course, a lot of the story elements had that effect on me too, but I digress.

As far as humor goes, there's a shockingly low number of jokes in this movie. Yeah, disney actually took this a lot más seriously than they took Tangled, and I applaud the film for this. That dicho though, the humor it has is very good. Even Olaf got a LOT of laughs out of me. Even the lame jokes from the trailers are ten times funnier when seen in context with the film. (Kinda like the jokes in Pirates: Band of Misfits) There are also there troll characters in this movie who have an interesting connection to Kristoff and they're funny too... in fact, I would have liked to have seen más of them. They were kind of underplayed, but they do have a really awesome musical number to make up for that.

Speaking of which, I don't think I'm surprising many people when they say this is a musical. Unlike with Tangled, most people knew this was 'secretly' going to be a musical. (Heck, disney eventually stopped denying this fact three months before the film came out... only not outside of the trailers) As for the songs themselves... they're fantastic! They have a timeless broadway feel and do a great job telling the story. Even Olaf's number, which would feel out-of-place in any other film works to great effect in this one. I can see why people regard this as a broadway musical in animación form and even the numbers themselves felt like Broadway dance numbers. I guess if there is one song I felt could have been better, it was 'Do tu Want to Build a Snowman'. It's good, but it's a bit shorter than I was expecting. (What with online sources stating it's más than 2 minutos long... that includes 1 minuto of just music) Although I will say this, the opening number, while also kinda short, did a great job getting me pumped for the rest of the film. While enredados had a soundtrack that took some getting used to what with its slightly modern spin, this one's a lot más timeless and even has a really wonderful villain song. It's just great. Even the amor ballad is más upbeat and comical than what tu normally get from a disney film, another thing in this movie that's against the norm.

All in all, aside from the problems I have with Hans, frozen I thought was not only the best animated film of 2013 but an absolute masterpiece! Those doubting this, cast it aside, disney has made a near-perfect film! This has officially become my fourth favorito! disney movie of all time! Yeah, this film has single-handedly booted Lion King off my parte superior, arriba ten list. And hey, I only mentioned the backlash a few times... guess I have the right to call in a special guest to give this message to the doubters.
