I know that we talk about Merida and Ariel and their selfishness/selflessness a lot, but we don't talk much about any of the other DPs, so I decided to do this countdown. Try to leave some good comments, since I'll be making this into an article!

MacytheStrange picked Ariel:
Ariel usually disregards other peoples wishes to just do her own thing, barely considering the well-being of others. I don't know if she is selfish, but she's certainly the least selfless of the DPs imo.

Also, I know a lot of people think Merida is selfish, but I really hope she doesn't go out this round, because even though she was definitely selfish at the beginning, she certainly changed, she even was ready to marry one of the suitors for the sake of the kingdom! Now that's selflessness.

Ariel is selfish, and I completely agree with what you said about Merida - I wish more people saw it like that.

The most selfish of them all as she doesn't think about other people, just about what she wants.

Who has been voting for Elsa? She shut herself away in miserable and crushing isolation JUST so she wouldn't hurt anybody. How is that in ANY way selfish?

LightningRed picked Elsa:
All she does is for herself. :P If she reasons that she only wants to keep Anna save, she doesn't allow Anna to have freedom outside the palace. If it's for Anna's sake that Anna shouldn't marry a man she just met, in the scene when Elsa runs away from jail and meets Hans, she tells him to take care of Anna. So in the beginning part when she forbids Anna to marry him, it's just because she doesn't want to see Anna have fun with others while she is alone in her own sadness....

She is also selfish by running away to the ice palace and doesn't want to remove the eternal winter by saying "I can't". What proves she can't remove it? She's just lazy to think although Anna has already encouraged her.

manu962 picked Ariel:
^Oh my! Did we watch the same movie? She forbids Anna to marry because she cares for her and because Anan doesn't even know him, also because she is afraid her powers will be exposed. She doesn't forbid Anna to have fun, she just can't have fun with her.
She asks Hans to set her free so Arendelle wouldn't be frozen. She wants to be with her sister but she's afraid she will hurt her and tries to keep distance with her.
As about the "I can't" nobody taught her how to control her powers. She lived with her powers for 21 years and she wasn't able to control them.

Definitely. Ariel isn't necessarily selfish, but out of the princesses she has the most selfish moments.

@ the little Elsa debate, I might also add that it was the King and Queen who made the decision to separate the sisters, not Elsa. Just pointing that out. :)

She can be directed more towards herself at times, but she's forgetful and clumsy. She usually is more involved in the moment then what she needs to do in the future.

I actually do agree a bit with LightningRed, I don't think she's necessarily selfish, but she probably would go away in round three or two.

@manu962 sadly, yes.... and I've already mention that if she really cares Anna because Anna doesn't know him, why in the time of chaos, finally she trusts Anna to Hans' hand? It seems you don't read my comment correctly. XP XP XP

324anna picked Ariel:
^Elsa loved her sister, so she asked Hans to TAKE CARE OF HER. It's not that she didn't like Hans or she found him unappropriaty for her sister, she just didn't want Anna to get married with a man that she barely knows. Marriage is completely different that taking care of someone. Taking care means being there for Anna and making sure she won't do anything stupid. Even if you love someone and he seems the perfect guy, you have to make sure you're meant for each other, you can't just MARRY him when you know him only for 1 day!

Anyway, I find Ariel to be the only princess that actually IS selfish. She does love her family and friends, but not as much as she should, she cares more about her self.

I KNOW SHE CHANGES IN THE END, but she is the only princess who WAS selfish for a long time in her movie. I really don't think any of the princesses is selfish, so this countdown is a bit awkward for me.

truth76 picked Elsa:
And Elsa and Anna.

Ariel: Not listening to her father and do what she wants.

Elsa: She made an ice castle and lived there, brought cold weather to Arendelle (people didn't like cold weather) and did not care what was going to happen to the people if they're going to freeze or not. During the fighting scene she was about to kill one of the man, just to protect herself she could explain to them. During the scene she acted like she forgot that she has magic powers that can harm anyone. It's like she is proud of her powers and does not care about people.

Anna: Only thought of herself and not for her sister.

random_camo picked Merida:
Got a spell just so she could change her mother because she doesn't like the things she does and she doesn't want to be a proper princess.

Ariel to me is not selfish in my opinion. She was a strong, independent young girl who wanted to do something new. Most people fail to realize that Ariel was always fascinated with the human world. She didn't change herself just to be with Eric, he just gave her the courage to go after her dream.

Tygers_Eye picked Ariel:
random_camo: You mean her mom was constantly policing her every word and action and was going to FORCE HER TO MARRY a complete stranger before she was ready for marriage at all, let alone someone she liked, trusted, or loved.

Ariel, on the other hand, must be the most selfish,self-centered, self-serving, inconsiderate little thing I've ever seen. Has plenty of freedom as long as she shows up to the occasional royal function and stay away from the human world. Nope, that was asking too much. Also having Ariel do anything she doesn't feel like doing that second is asking too much of her. Show up to the concert? Show remorse for her actions affecting others? Nope.

Silverrose1991 picked Merida:
Tygers - I don't want to argue, so I'll be brief: Merida's situation (as opressive as it was) does not justfify her pratically poisoning her mother. And Ariel showed remorse when she saw her father turn into a seaweed and she tried fixing that mistake by trying to get the trident from Ursula.

^^^Oh and Gus, I don't recall her mother being poisoned or Merida being aware that anything like that could even happen. She just wanted her mum to change the oppressive way she treated her. It's kinda similar to Ariel becoming human and not knowing how bad that could make things for her dad, don't cha think?

Silverrose1991 picked Merida:
^Of course she poisoned (that word is a bit rarsh, actually) her mother! She wanted a spell to alter her mother's mind, but she didn't word it clearly to the Witch. And Ariel is a slightly different story, because she was manipulated by the villain in a weak moment after her father had destroyed her collection. Quite similar, yes, but Merida wasn't manipulated: in fact, the Witch didn't even want to make a deal with her before.

Annabethandco picked Ariel:
^Ariel may have been manipulated, but she would have agreed without it. We all know how much she wanted to join the human world!

And she doesn't want to poison her mother she says she wants her to change and listen to her! As you said, "She wanted a spell to alter her mother's mind". Her mother was never poisoned anyway. She was just transformed.

And Merida was also acting in a moment of weakness when she sought after the spell JUST like Ariel. Merida was exceedingly upset.

Silverrose1991 picked Merida:
^No, she wouldn't. She didn't accept Flotsam & Jetsam's offer at first. She said "Go away!" but they threw Eric's statue head to Ariel to remind her of how Triton had hurt her and that she would never have a chance at following her dream, so she accepted it.

And when I said poison I didn't mean kill her: I meant magically alter her mother's mind. And I agree that Merida was upset and in a moment of weakness, but she did it out of free will despite being warned against it by the witch. She is not this selfish, cruel monster people make her out to be and she genuinely changed, but she was spoiled and selfish before that. I don't think any of the princesses is selfish, I just have to vote the one that's the closest to it. Sorry.

3xZ picked Merida:
Although I understand Merida's life situation, I still disagree with the way she's being very selfish by saying let the war happen and change her mother for her own sake. She never did unselfish thing to others even when she repair the broken tapestry.

@Gus: I agree with you that Ariel is not that selfish. She was heartbroken at the time Flotsam and Jetsam tricked her. She never meant to do harm to her family if she becomes a human. She only changed herself. Unlike Merida. Ariel's act is more stupidity and unwise decision rather than egotism.

@LightningRed: I think I understand your point quite perfectly. What Elsa did is very unwise that she made many wrong moves in her life. She left Anna to Hans because she thought she was not capable of taking care of Anna and yet, she chose not to take the responsibility. She thought it was best for her to 'not destroy Arendelle's life' by fleeing away, but I see that she did not want to put any thought to the kingdom. While it was her parents decision for her to stay away from Anna, she never even pondered any further thought of how to protect Anna without hurting Anna's heart, which eventually froze Anna to death.

I have made my mind that it is Anna who has done the most altruistic act. She demonstrated her responsibility to save her kingdom by following Elsa to the North mountain despite dangerous risks she must face. And after she was struck by Elsa, she still chose to use her last breath to save her sister's life. How noble is that? <333

I'm with Gus again that none of the princesses are truly selfish.

CRaZy_rawR picked Elsa:
Elsa is selfish. Maybe just slightly a bit more than Ariel. She not only is selfish to totally shut Anna out, which isn't all her fault, but she runs away from Arendelle, leaving everyone behind. She knew Anna cared for her a lot, and prolly had a feeling she would follow after her. Then when Anna does come, she tries to warn her to leave (which isn't selfish) but then her emotions get to her and she flips out. She knew what would happen if she let her emotions get to her, she would prolly hurt someone, yet she disregarded Anna anyway. Then, when Hans locks her up, she stills tries to run away. She attempts leaving Arendelle for itself.. Again.

AudreyFreak picked Ariel:
what pretty_angel said. Ariel CAN be as selfless as anyone else (like when she saves Eric), however, she simply has MORE selfish moments. The difference between Ariel and Merida and Anna is the latter two admit it was selfish and do their best to fix it, which is not selfish.

I agree Elsa is also kinda selfish, but I have to correct crazy rawr. She didn't want to shut Anna out- her parents told her to, so she did. I agree running away was a big mistake, but she did it to save herself from possibly being hurt or killed like it showed in Granpabbie's prophecy, and also to prevent hurting anyone since her powers were leaking out more than a bucket of water covered in holes.

I agree she is rather selfish beyond that point, though she does has some good intentions. She DOES genuinely want to keep everyone safe! But at the same time, she's a timid person by nature and is afraid of the possible consequences so she thinks of herself a lot too.

And this is an unpopular opinion, but I might have to vote for Punz next. Her reason for rebelling and rationalizing it was entirely selfish, cuz she just wanted to see some lanterns after being told she can't. Not because she wanted away from Gothel, and unlike Merida and Anna she just makes excuses for herself. (Not hating on Blondie here, I'm just statting why I find her selfish.)

Audrey - Rapunzel didn't want to leave the tower only to see the lanterns. She wanted to see the world, and she only left after Gothel told her she was never going to leave the tower (in a rather agressive manner).
