When I told my mom about The Princess and the Frog she had the same reaction I did; it's about time they had an African-American princess.

I doesn't bother me that much, but I think it would be good for there to be more princesses that aren't White Europeans, it makes the group much more varied and makes the likes of Tiana look less out of place. I know we've got Pocahontas who's Native American, Mulan who's Chinese and Jasmine who's more or less Arab. But the White European princesses still outnumber princesses of other races.

Over all I don't really mind but I think it would be a good idea because the group will have more variety and look less White European centred.

Well, then they should take a japanese fairy tale or legend. Sorry, but that really bothers me - those stories are not invented by Disney. Naturally most of the Princesesses are white, their stories are based on German Fairy Tales (or the french version of them). How would you feel if they took part of your culture and put it into a totally different context? Princess and the Frog was already one toe over the line in that regard.
(But there are some interesting Japanese legends which might make a good movie - Kizune, the snow women).

I think it is a change for the better that they are adding new ractions to their princess list because I belive that it shows variety and send positive message to young people around the world.
