I can see why; they're pretty new and popular, also the Disney princesses aren't the only characters which was allowed to appear on another Disney movie.

It doesn't bother me, but I do kind of wonder about it. I figure it's because those characters are popular. Disney almost treats them as if they were DPs -- they've got the looks and the merchandise. All they're missing is the official title of Disney Princess.

^ Nope, she hasn't joined yet, though at this point I doubt she will join.

Personally, I feel it's because most people aren't as aware of how becoming an official Disney Princess works as we Fanpoppers are. A lot of people still consider Anna, Elsa, and Moana to be Disney Princesses, so I think they did it because most people in the public expect to see them with the Disney Princesses. I don't even bother trying to explain to people I know in real life about how the Disney Princess line-up works that think Moana, Anna, and Elsa are Disney Princesses. It doesn't really surprise me or bother me.

^ yeah, I agree with KL. If they weren't included there'd be huge complaints of "WHY aren't Elsa and Anna there?!??!?!" so I'm glad they're included even if it's just so I don't have to see comments like that.

They look cute anyway though & not out of place.

@kataralover yes, but i want to know why? there's nothing that prevent Moana from joining. her movie did pretty well at the box office, she sings and altough she's not a princess by birth or married a prince, she commited an act of heroism. just like Mulan. she has every right to be there

wavesurf picked Yes, as they arent official princesses:
With the exception of Pocahontas, Cindy, and Snow White, the revival girls get all of the speaking parts in the new Disney clip. Of course, they appear because they are popular. And everybody recognizes them because Disney heavily promoted them. Other than that, Moana, Elsa, and Anna are all satirical characters and are Disney basically doing a 180 into some mockery of what they once considered the definition of the princess lineup.

Even Maui has this half-mocking line about what constitutes a princess: "If you wear a dress and you have an animal sidekick, you're a princess."

Who really knows what Disney intends to do with heroines who are now satirical? It's hard to fit them with Walt's group, and the Renaissance princesses, who aren't written that way. Elsa, Anna, and Moana belong with themselves, because they are a new brand of Disney princess: the ones who are flippantly politically correct.

Moana and Frozen fans would have pitched a fit if they weren't included (even though they always say Elsa is a queen anyway...?)
