11: The Little Mermaid

Okay like me tell you what I mean by worst. If the animation doesn't seem to age that well as it gets older, if it seems flat at times, if it doesn't have good details too it or seems to be to dull or like a three year old or princecatcher93 drew it. That's what I mean.

Or Snow White. But I kind of like the less caricature, more watercolor style of SWat7D.

Yeah. I never enjoyed the animation style of this one. Aladdin also.

The movements in this film are way too sharp and choppy. It is not as fluid in the character animations. While the animation is over 75 years old, it is the worst, as you can still see edgy mistakes and the differences in the cells. Just being honest.

My vote may change, because I plan in rewatching Aladdin. I already explained my reasons for voting for this one.

The animation is inconsistent and hasn't aged as well as some other movies. I strongly disagree with Aladdin leaving so soon. Its animation is incredibly consistent and well drawn, and has aged well compared to the other movies.

I am not participating anymore because there is No Worst animation movie and they all age well. Calling a beautiful work of art " WORST" especially as they keep getting upgraded, and considering all the hard work that goes into each of them. Its sad that you guys have to see something as " Best" or " Worst"
To me they all are timeless, beautiful movies, and we should think about them that way rather than picking them apart just for a stupid lineup.
Frankly these " Best" and " Worst" polls are getting ridiculous and annoying. It comes across as very shallow. Everyone should strive to look for the good within everything, not pick at it.

^Really, it is not exactly the WORST, but the least beautiful. But that would be an horrible and too complicated title for a countdown, Pick the Least Beautiful.

On another note, VERY VERY SAD that " The Little Mermaid" went first, no way did it deserve to go. Its animation is far from the Worst in any category. Like I said, why don't we try and make more fun polls and not these repetitive and shallow ones. OH and just because Im not voting doesn't mean I will not speak up for the poor movie that got voted out. The world has enough negativity, The word WORST is a negative word- like I said, look for the good. These polls remind me of Cinderella's stepsisters ripping her pink dress apart.

Not a fan of animation in Walt and Dark Era except for Sleeping Beauty. The animation is just dull and boring!

Silverrose PEOPLE ARE FORGETTING TO SAY, -" IN MY OPINION- but i realize to someone else The Little Mermaid might be the most beautiful thing ever". As I said the First three of the Renaissance have been critically acclaimed for their outstanding animation, music and characters. Regardless these negative polls are kind of pointless. What purpose do they serve? They have been done a million times, and eachone of us sees each film differently so once again - I ask, how can we rank them accurately? WE CANT. Its all a matter of perspective and opinion. And who wants to pick at things, or hear their favorite movie called " THE WORST" of anything??? Its like ENOUGH " BEST THIS" " WORST THAT". its very very shallow.

^But the purpose is not really to do a list of best to worst. It's just to have fun voting and leaving comments. I agree fhat you that I don't like hate comments saying the animation is lousy or something because they leave me sad.

About the First Three of the Renaissance: yeah, they have been critically aclaimed for the factors you mentioned, but so have been the three of the Classic Era. And you said, the worst for one can be the best for other and vice-versa.

@Persephone 1) Isn't it an obvious point that although one person may dislike TLM's animation, someone else might love it? I think most people don't feel the need to say that because they mean their comments to be their referring to their own opinions.
2) Just because something is 'critically acclaimed', doesn't mean everyone loves it.
3) By that logic there should be no more countdowns! Every countdown needs to have a last place and a first place, that's the point of a countdown.

^Thank you. To me it only makes sense to do so. When Frozen gets released and everyone can see it, we'll have to do it again at some point. And there's plenty of time until that. Mohana won't be up for five years.

Your missing my overall point, there doesnt need to be a " first place and a last place" for all these beloved movies. And Yes Silverrose, I agree the first three Princess movies are fabulous movies and beautifully done for their decades.

^Oh, I don't think only for the decades. They remain some of my all-time favorites (as do BatB and TLM). And I understand your point: it's hard to rank them. Like, sooner or later I'll have to vote out Snow White, and that is one of my favorites.

About the joining in 2010/2013 thing: But why can't we, newbies, have our go at them too? There will be plenty of original countdowns, I'm sure. If you want everyone to have a chance to be included, then we must have ours too.

Persephone: Yes, but Silverrose has a good point. New princesses are being added to the line up, new Disney Princess movies are made, so we should repeat things, to see what our opinion of the line up is with the new movie/princess added. Besides, there are new people joining this spot all the time, they probably want to participate in countdowns too. If you've been here for years and don't want to participate in repetitive countdowns, you can just not participate and start a countdown you enjoy.

I have a few things to say. "Worst" does not mean "Bad" so I dot see the big deal about it an certain things are done better in one movie than another, so does that make us shallow for choosing and to explain it? Saying that does not make us negative people. The whole point of comments is to express our opinion, so we do not need to say "In our opinion". What you need to realize is that new people join our club very quickly, so if they hear someone saying something about a countdown that was done a while ago, then they have the right to experience that. You insult us by calling us shallow, but you are the one announcing that you are not participating in a wall post and the article that you are annoyed by then simply not commenting, so it can be assumed that you announced it for attention. You have been here for 4 years, so of course things will be repetitive for you. Instead of taking the simple way, you insult us by claiming we are shallow and have a lack of creativity. That sounds very uppity of you, and you have been complaining for months now. There was no need for you to announce it; just don't participate.

I'm gonna have to agree with Persephone. This is like choosing which of my children I love the most. So many hours of hard work and sweat from Disney Animators and filmmakers go into each film, I can't possibly choose.

Also I totally disagree with The Little Mermaid being the "worst."

carrieicecream, I understand with what you mean, but movies are not children. The issue was that she announced this huge controversial announcement on a all post (which has been deleted), here, and favourites the article. Acknowledging that a child has a personality flaw makes you appreciate them for who they are and to love them unconditionally, that does not mean they are bad and they suck.

It's definitely consistent and pretty. But I don't think the best animation scenes in Aladdin are more ''impressive'' than in the other DP movies.

@Jayden-G True, they are not children. I do participate in all the other polls (best characters, best songs, etc.) I just feel like the animation is the biggest part of the movie. Also each movie is animated in such a different style that I couldn't possibly choose my worst, because each animation style works perfectly for each movie.

I guess calling them "my children" is a little ridiculous, but what I meant is that each has their own style.

still think that the character design clashes with the realistic landscapes.

Well, the bachgrounds in TLM are dull as heck when the backgrounds in Aladdin are better. Both had awful CGI though.

Since i dream to become an animator myself and will join a 12 months programm for it soon, i have to say that to the people who do this movies they ARE children!

I´m not criticizing the countdown, just that one statement XD
Even though i think that this countdown won´t do any good, especially if you only look at the characters and how clean lines are and stuff and don´t know a thing about the work behind those animations and how difficult it was in the different years they were made to make them.

But i know it´s for fun, so go ahead and do it, just don´t be to rude about someone elses favorite movies guys ;)

^Thank you for understanding that some of us enjoy doing this. But I agree with you: we can't insult the animation of these movies, because a lot of work went in them and we have to respect who worked in it.

Or "Beauty and the beast"...
