 Flynn "theyjustcan'tgetmynoseright" Rider.
Flynn "theyjustcan'tgetmynoseright" Rider.
There are a lot of aladdín and Price Eric fans out there – and while I’ll admit I’m a fan of both – neither come close to the swashbuckling (and smouldering) perfection that is Flynn Rider. He’s heroic, hilarious and has más than enough personality to share with the pre-1989 Prince’s. He is, por far, my favourite disney prince – and for the life of me, I can’t understand how people so easily overlook him. And that is exactly why I’m escritura this articulo – to give credit where credit is due.

I’ve divided this articulo up into 4 parts – Heroicness, Humor, Personality & Character Development and Relationship. There is a fifth, but it’s completely my biased opinion – so it doesn’t really count. Also, I know it's alot of reading, but everything here is important - I know it might be tempting, but try not to skim. Anyways, let’s begin :)

Heroicness

I almost find it hard thinking of people like Flynn and mulan as princes and princesses – because to me – they’re first and foremostly heroes. Flynn is so much más than a physically fit guy who looks good on a horse – he’s brave, clever, determined, courageous, selfless and sacrificing. He never gives up and he never backs down. He’s the only prince to literally die for his princess – and while not all princes had the opportunity – only a handful, if any, would actually be willing to do this. Flynn, knowing Rapunzel will be unhappy for the rest of her life, begs her not to save him – even though he knows that he will die. Sure, many other princes do heroic things – but all have something to personally gain out of it. Flynn, on the other hand, has nothing to gain from dying besides the short lived satisfaction that Rapunzel, the amor of his life, is safe. Sure, Phillip battles a dragon (with some help from the fairies) – but he’s doing it so that he can marry Aurora. And yes, Eric jumps in the water after Ariel and saves her – but let’s not forget the line “I lost her once, I’m not going to do it again” – he’s saving her so he can have her. He can’t have her if she’s dead (hense the heroic act), but he also can’t have her if HE is dead – so the possibility of him willingly giving up his life for her seems highly unlikely. And that’s the other thing about Flynn’s circumstances vs. that of many other princes – others are in dangerous situations fighting for a prize, but Flynn KNOWS he will die, and still goes through with it. He has nothing to personally gain, but just knowing Rapunzel is free and seguro is más than enough motive for him. Basically, while most princes are motivated por what they personally can gain out of a heroic act – Flynn is selfless, sacrificing and the ultimate hero. I hate to quote titanic (actually that’s a lie, I amor to) – but Flynn saved Rapunzel in every way that a person could be saved. He saved her from a miserable life, he saved her from a certain death, and he saved her from being manipulated, neglected and used. Boy, did Rapunzel luck out. Of all the princes – Flynn was definitely the most deserving of a happy ending – he worked for it, he más than earned it, and I’m so thankful that he finally got it.

Humor

 BEST. FACIAL. EXPRESSIONS. EVER!
BEST. FACIAL. EXPRESSIONS. EVER!

This section is self-explanatory and straightforward. Flynn is the funniest Prince, hands down. When he’s on screen, I’m literally laughing out loud – when Genie and Mushu are on screen, I grin, but I’m certainly not busting a gut (although “dishonor on you, dishonor on your cow” always makes me laugh). Flynn is voiced PERFECTLY – sometimes just the way he says thing (“surrounded por enormous piles of money”) makes it funny. Also, I absolutely amor his facial expressions. They are unrivaled.

 Flynn's face alone is worth a MILLION words - never mind the rest of the picture.
Flynn's face alone is worth a MILLION words - never mind the rest of the picture.

His humor adds another dimension to his personality. There is no such thing as a person who is hilarious AND bland – and Flynn is certainly no exception. His hilarity alone one-ups all the other Princes, and with that, we translate into the most important part of the article…

Personality & CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT

 Loathed enemies.
Loathed enemies.

Foils don’t need character development, plot tools don’t need character development, stereotypes don’t need character development and symbols don’t need character development – but a rounded character certainly does – and I can’t even begin to stress how important that is. The Prince, Prince Charming, Prince Phillip and (I can feel the hateful comentarios coming already –) Prince Eric, mostrar absolutely no character development whatsoever. They are 1 – maybe 2 – dimensional characters at best. They don’t have developed personalities o original characteristics – and while people can take trivial events and twist them into redeeming qualities – it still doesn’t change the facts. Shang and John Smith are just a step up, while Aladdin, Naveen, Beast and Flynn (YAY!) are far más development characters with helpings más of personality – whether tu like to admit it o not. Personally, I dislike Naveen and Beast (and many dislike aladdín as well), but regardless – you cannot compare them to princes like Eric and Phillip who are “perfect” – because in all reality, they are not rounded enough to be anything else. Yes, many people prefer the simple perfection that comes with a less developed character – but personally, I’d rather someone relatable, unique, entertaining, and full of personality over a perfectly crafted prince any day. tu cannot compare the two – they are not of the same quality.

 Getting along... kind of.
Getting along... kind of.

Character development and personality go hand and hand – which is why I grouped them together. When we meet Flynn – he is self-absorbed, dishonest and manipulative. But somewhere over the course of an hora and a half, he makes the transition to selfless, truthful, and heroic – while still keeping his original qualities of unmatchable humor and intelligence. This is truly beautiful – it's not only a commendable and relatable example, but an entertaining ride for the viewer. "Don't judge a book por it's cover" – it's beauty & the beasts message – only más subtle (and reversed). But what sets Flynn apart is that – unlike the other princes – he doesn’t TRY to change, it just happens – organically and realistically. He doesn’t turn goodie-goodie quickly either, it’s a slow and natural transition. All-in-all, Flynn is a lot of incredible things – brave, kind, funny, romantic, heroic, charming, forgiving, quick-thinking, self-sacrificing, original and realistic – but most of all – Flynn is selfless, which to me, is the greatest quality of all. He has his flaws – but they only make him human. He's not a God, and he's not some animators idea of perfection either. He's not a symbol, a foil, a plot tool o a stereotype – which unfortunately – can't be dicho for many of the other princes.

 Ah, friends at last.
Ah, friends at last.

Lastly, I have one más thing to point out: Of the rounded disney princes – Flynn is the only one I really like. And just as I’m sure I’m not the only one who feels this way, I’m also certain that others can process the above facts and begin to admire the substantial leap in character development that is Flynn Rider.

Relationship

Those of tu who’ve read my "Rapunzel vs. Ariel" o "Best disney Couples" artículos have already heard my rant on how truly amazing Flynn and Rapunzel’s relationship is, especially in comparison to the others’. But brace yourself – because here it comes again. Basically, the más I think about Rapunzel and Flynn’s relationship, the más perfect I realise it is. They don’t fall in amor instantly, which is a welcomed relief. And personally, I loved watching their relationship progress and witnessing all the little, individually brilliant moments they shared together. Flynn didn’t fall in amor with Rapunzel the moment he saw her (unlike cenicienta & Charming and Aurora & Phillip). In fact, he tried to get rid of her. And if he liked her only for her looks, it should have been amor at first sight – but clearly, it was not. Flynn doesn’t try to make Rapunzel fall in amor with him either (Ariel, Beast, Aladdin), which I really appreciated. Their relationship is mature and realistic. And unlike so many other couples (Mulan & Shang, Snow White & The Prince, cenicienta & Prince Charming, Ariel & Eric, and Aurora & Phillip) Rapunzel and Flynn actually had the necessary communication to build a meaningful and lasting relationship on. But what I like most about these two is that their relationship progressed organically and realistically, with plenty of comic relief inserted along the way. They didn’t lose themselves but grew as people throughout their relationship. Flynn and Rapunzel are the perfect combination of amor and passion. They’re perfect – no one can even come close to them.

Attractiveness ;)

And now – as promised – the completely biased (and arguably stupid) part of the article. And while it would be pointless on my part to go in depth on the features that make him attractive, I’m definitely not above bombarding tu with pictures of him. Enjoy! ;)

 And of course, no articulo about Flynn would be complete without the infamous "Smoulder" ;)
And of course, no articulo about Flynn would be complete without the infamous "Smoulder" ;)

In conclusion

I know we swoon at the “attractive” princes like Eric, Aladdin, Naveen and Phillip – but it seems only rarely that people ever look at the character behind the beauty. And unfortunately, when they do, it seems a lot más like an extrapolation of trivial details in attempts to justify a girlish crush. Flynn could honestly look like Quasimodo and he’d still be my favourite prince – his appearance is merely an added, but ultimately irrelevant, bonus.

I know disney princes can be a touchy subject, and I am fully aware that the comentario section will soon be bombarded with hateful remarks – but that didn’t stop me from escritura this, and it won’t stop me from standing behind it. As I’ve dicho before, if this is what the future of the disney prince holds, then count me in.

I sincerely hope this articulo has brought some well-deserved attention to a truly incredible – but underestimated – character. Yet if tu are to take only one thing away from it, let it not be amor for Flynn Rider, but an open mind.

Thanks for lectura and check out my other artículos :)
hola there! I'm isabellagirl033 and as tu all are well aware cenicienta has been adapted many times into live-action cine though only some manage to truely be a hit. I'm going to break down some of my favourite portrayals into my parte superior, arriba 5.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
5. Hillary Duff, A cenicienta Story
Despite it's cringe-worthiness and lack of loyalty to it's source, I still managed to enjoy the movie. Tween icono Hillary Duff is the last thing that comes into my mind when I think of cenicienta but she made a convincing one at that. I think this spot goes to Hillary Duff mostly due to...
I have already done this, a few months hace actually and I decided to do it again. My opinion has changed a lot, because a lot of people have made good points and so many of these good points have changed my opinion quite s bit.
13. Aurora
It's not so much that I dislike her, it's just I found her kind of bland in her movie. She was boring, though I enjoyed her sweet personality. I get she had to sleep, it was simply a part of her story, but I just didn't get to know her much. I know it sounds kind of unfair, but I find it hard to place her higher.
12. Pocahontas
I don't dislike her...
Hi guys, since frozen has took the world por storm, this articulo is basically about my initial impressions about the story-line, the songs and music, as well as the art and characters' designs back in 2003, 10 years before the movie that took the world por storm.
The Story
When I first heard that disney was going to adapt the Snow Queen, my first impression was that it was going to be faithful towards the original story por Hans Christian Anderson. Secondly, I thought that it was about 2 sisters who one of them discover to have ice powers, according to a prophecy, were separated since they were...
Hi everyone!
In this article, I’m going to compare two cine from the disney Revival, one revolving around a lost princess with magical golden hair, and the other revolving around two sisters, one of whom is a queen with ice powers.
Part A.    Which is the "better" movie?
Tangled has a más cohesive plot and seems to me to have deeper characters that interact superbly with each other. Emotions and thoughts were successfully conveyed with an abundance of facial expressions. The hair animación was astounding, but the skin and eyes could sometimes seem plastic-like o lifeless....
12) The Princess and the Frog
I'm not positive but I think this has a somewhat large fanbase on Fanpop? Even if it doesn't, I don't think that I'll ever adore this film. I'll start with the positives. I amor Down in New Orleans and basically the whole beginning. When Tiana is human, it's actually very entertaining. I adore Lottie, and it just is, for lack of better word, better during this part of the film. It's funnier and much, much less obnoxious. I like Facilier and Tiana and Naveen is hilarious at times, but the segundo half of the film...oh lord. It's so annoying...half the time I can't...
This is my ranking of the princes. This is probably going to be one of my harder artículos so please don't be rude.
12. Hans- I can't even describe how much I dislike this character. I hate the idea that the handsome prince has to be a jerk. One of the things I really hate about frozen is that it mocks the amor at first sight of the Walt era princess films. Yes tu don't marry a guy tu just met but I think most people are smart enough to know that, it's just common sense, yes there is no such thing as amor at first sight but that's because they're fairytales and fairytales aren't suppose to...
“Rapunzel” is the kind of story that consistently ranks highly in people’s lists of their favorito! fairy tales. With a dramatic plot, interesting characters, symbolic motifs, and the underlying theme of the redeeming power of love, the tale certainly seems to deserve such adoration. Grimm’s version of the story is perhaps the most known retelling,
 Grimm's Rapunzel
Grimm's Rapunzel
although that may have changed as of 2010 with Disney’s adaptation, Tangled, a movie just as rife with symbolism as its literary inspiration. Although both are variations on the Rapunzel narrative, Disney’s movie veers...
After seeing Sweetie94's prettiest disney princess list, I wanted to make one of mine as well. I'm not really a fan of the beauty of modern princesses, I find them rather too doll types, somehow. So they are all ranking low on my list. Hope you'll enjoy it, here it goes:
13. Elsa:
Eh, are her eyes for real? Way too big on her face and her lips are so thin. She does have that barbie doll kind of look to her. She has an unbalanced face proportion, her upper portion of face is too big as compared to the lower portion and that gives her an unnatural look, imo. I quite like her hair though, snow blonde,...
Last time I wrote this lista Valiente and frozen hadn't been released so now I'll write this lista with them included, hope you'll like it
12. Pocahontas
This scene is amazing to look at, no wonder many people loves this ending, but why is it then last on my list? While it's an amazing scene to look at it isn't a happy ending, normally I don't mind it, but disney is known for making happy endings so honestly if this movie was made por another company and was live action I probably would amor the ending more
11. Mulan
This ending starts off great with mulan reuniting with her father and Shang...
So here is the Part 2 to my musical countdown: Scores. I amor disney música and I honestly amor the scores over the songs. They have all of the "magic Disney" feel that I absolutely adore. Also, I amor how the scores can provide a blend of the different songs from it's respective films as well as stir up all of the emotions and/or memories from it's respective scene(s). For those reasons, this lista was much harder for me to make than Part 1: Songs, but I managed to finish! As I mentioned before, I cannot get enough from the musical team of Alan Menken and Howard...
Ok so I saw a talented user here post an articulo about the Bechdel Test and being the Walt geek that I am, was immediately inspired to do a Walt disney Test.
Walt disney was unfortunately only alive to fully see over the production and release of Snow White, Cinderella, and Sleeping Beauty which are known as the "Classic Princesses". For this reason, I took everything in common that I could find with these 3 princesses for relevancy to rate the others. The 14 commonalities I found were: 1.) Beautiful Face 2.) In Shape Body 3.) Soft/Sweet Speaking Voice 4.) canto Voice 5.) Dance Scene [Solo...
