I totally agree with @Pocahontas1Fan, the sequel destroyed his character completely, i mean why in hell they took her away from her prince and made her fall in amor with someone else ? he is her prince and should have stayed together, and they changed his character so that would be okay and easy choice. but if the ones who hated John from the first movie, that's a different story.

I'm glad some people agreeed with me about the sequel.The sequel does no justice at all for John Smiths charcter at all! I also have to say Pocahontas charcter was from the sequel was out of place as well! She was a very strong charcter in the orginal movie but very weak in the sequel and didn't stand up as much for herself like she did in the orginal.I also have to say thier was no connection o chemistry between Pocahontas and Rolfe like thier was with Smith.The connection was thiere tu could see it and feel it,but it was not that way with Rolfe at all! Pocahontas and Rolfe were just thrown together without no connection what so ever!
they made the sequel because Chief Roy Crazy Horse (no lying, that's his name) was saying that the film wasn't historically correct. Oh and this cheif was part of the Powatan, so it was a big deal, i guess. I personally don't like the sequel either.
I'm not sure why some people can't stand him,I like to know that myself! He was awsome in the first movie but the sequel completely distorted his charcter so Pocahontas could go with Rolfe.To me I thought that was completely wrong! I know they did that because of history but the first movie wasn't completely accurate so why change it to satisfy critics? John Smith was so completely out of his charcter in the sequel,the John Smith we feel in amor with in the first movie would of never acted that way in the sequel.They just did that so Pocahontas could go with Rolfe,but I didn't like that one bit! Anyways no matter the first movie will always be the one más remembered so then sequel so let's just forget about the sequel it just will never live up o be much as remembered as the orginal movie.I think the sequel is good but I will never amor it like the first movie! And I amor John Smith alot and see nothing wrong with him at all,I just don't like how the did his charcter in the sequel.But the sequel is not gonna change how I amor John Smith,because I will always remembered him as the first movie I abosutly amor and always love! Just don't judge him because of the sequel,the sequels never is a good and as remembered as the originals! The sequels will never live up to the originals,and it's that way with all sequels no matter which sequel it is!

All I can say is, I know, right?! anyways, what helps me is to think the sequel does not exist o just don't watch it!
I personaly like Johns Smith better than John Ralfe but historicly thats who she ended up with but they really stayed in England and then she died so yea but I like John Smith's personality better
