Definatley Maggie and Joe. My second choice is Barnabas and Josette.

Probably an unpopular opinion, but I never really saw much chemistry between Barnabas and Josette (or her many clones). They had a sweet vibe, imo, but nowhere near the great love/grand passion vibe they should have been exhibiting. Joe and Maggie had that in spades. I also liked Tim and Rachel in the 1897 story. I wish that relationship had been developed further. They left Barnabas and Rachel in the dust.

Joe, without a doubt. Maggie and Joe were probably my second favorite DS pairing. KLS and JC just lit up the screen together.

I loved Joe and Maggie, but I also adored Rachel Drummond and Tim Shaw in 1897.

I think Joe might have been the perfect boyfriend. He was there for her, he was loyal, he gave her blood when she needed it, but ultimately they were a very boring couple for television. All that aside, as much as I LOVE Kathryn Leigh Scott, she tended to over-act in the presence of Joel Crothers. Her voice would become too high-pitched and she really strived to throw on the love act. It wasn't believable. Every scene she had with John Karlen was natural. I especially loved Willie and Maggie's arguments. It was like he PUSHED KLS to the limits. That was wonderful acting. When Willie got passionate or fiery, you could see it in his eyes and I think KLS played nicely off that. I'm not saying Joel Crothers wasn't a decent actor. I think he was phenomenal. But KLS seemed to draw more from John Karlen in their scenes.
