He probably wouldn't be able to let go at first, but then he would go off with Katherine and let Damon and Elena (and the fans) live happily ever after. ^_^

It would definitely be really difficult at first, but if its what Damon and Elena both want, he will let them be happy. Stefans always been the favorite and he knows how much Damon has been through. Damon finally deserves it and I think Stefan would come to realize this sooner or later.

You don't remember the episode 2x07? Just two minutes after they were captured katherine, Stefan will see Elena and believes that everything will come back as before (when jenna is in the hospital, and that everything happens to Elena is in large part because stefan! -_-)

for me he is the most selfish character after katherine! But she at least honest enough to admit it!

The thing is, is that he's only portrayed as a saint, but really he's just selfish. He said about Damon loving Katherine that he 'didn't care if it hurt him.' and he 'only knew that he wanted her' I don't think he gives a shit about Damon or what he feels for Elena. He's even USED the feelings that Damon holds for Elena against him. On several occasions.

So no. He's far too selfish for that.

Even if she leaves, stefan will do everything to make her feel guilty and she comes back. He did the same thing with Damon(and I do not understand why Damon has not denounced stefan.....)
