WARNING: This articulo contains spoilers and solutions to puzzles in The Legend of Spyro: Dawn of the Dragon. Please read only if tu have completed the game, o would like some consejos on progressing through the game.
This is a guide to help those of tu DOTD fans get the most out of your game while playing as Cynder. Whether tu play on your own, o in co-op mode as Cynder, I hope this articulo will give tu a bit of inspiration siguiente time tu play!
The Basics
While two player mode is optional in DOTD, Cynder is always playable. When tu are in single player mode, tu will find yourself switching between Spyro and Cynder to complete certain tasks that require their unique elements.
Personally, I play the game as Cynder in co-op mode with my brother. We have reached the end of story mode and are currently replaying chapters to complete everything we missed the first time round (I believe we're up to 97% now). Maybe once we've finished, I'll replay the whole game in single player mode to see how that goes! But for now, I am compiling a guide of Cynder's elements and abilities based on the experiences I've had with the game, so that tu can try them too (if you've not done so already).
Poison
Poison is often seen as Cynder's default element, like Spyro is to fire. Like Spyro's fuego element, Cynder's poison is contagious; if one poisoned enemy comes in contact with another enemy, they will also become poisoned. Small monsters can also be killed much más quickly once they are poisoned. Great stuff! (Well, not for the enemies.)
Venom: Cynder spits a large, fluorescent green blob (niiiiiiice), which infects any enemies it lands on. The attack is más powerful if tu hold down the element button before releasing. As this attack consists of a single blob, rather than the normal puff of "smoke" dragones exhale, tu might want a bit of target practice with this one!
Scorpion Strike: Cynder appears to have poison all over her, and twirls quickly. This is a good one to use if tu are surrounded por enemies, because it will immediately weaken all of them that get touched por Cynder's poison.
Also: Unlock and wear all of Cynder's silver armour (the left row) and your melee attacks will automatically do poison damage to every enemy tu hit. It doesn't matter which element tu have selected. This is pretty awesome; tu can poison enemies without using up your mana!
Fear
This is a fun element! The fear element causes Cynder to scream at the enemies, making them cower and becoming temporarily useless. The element alone does a fair amount of physical damage to the enemy, and when they are in their terrified mode, take advantage and use a few of your melee attacks on the wimps!
Siren Scream: This is my personal favourite elemental attack. Cynder produces a high-pitched scream, which sends out red sound waves that scare any enemies they touch. This is capable of killing enemies, but to avoid using up all your mana tu may prefer to just scream at them for a short time and then use your melee attacks.
Phantom Fright: Cynder can produce an even higher-pitched scream in the form of a large sphere, which explodes. These are capable of stunning your enemies, and like Siren Scream it's a good idea to follow this attack with your melee abilities. Like the venom attack, it's a good idea to get some target practice with this one.
Also: When tu reach the tuning forks, a hint will tell tu that they can be activated por loud noises. Try out your Siren Scream on them.
Wind
Wind is noticeably Cynder's most gentle ability. It's not a dark, evil power like her other elements. However, it is por no means useless!
Super Cyclone: Cynder breathes wind, which is capable of blowing enemies away. Useful if tu are surrounded por enemies and are low of health. Use this ability to blow them out of the way so tu can get past them.
Ultimate Twister: Cynder conjures up a miniature hurricane. While holding down the attack button, tu can mover her around and she'll take the hurricane with her. The hurricane gathers little bits of debris that damage the enemies when they hit them.
Also: tu can use the wind element to turn Cynder into a musician! Use Super Cyclone to blow into the trumpets.
Shadow
Cynder's shadow element is sure to leave the enemies puzzled. tu will find them attacking each other por accident instead of attacking the dragons. Be careful not to get too carried away though; sometimes when I'm using this element I find myself filling up the entire screen with blue smoke and not being able to see anything!
Shadow Strike: Cynder jumps down into her own shadow! While holding down the element button, tu can navigate Cynder from her shadow. Releasing the element button causes her to jump back onto the surface again. The enemies will never see her coming!
Shadow Fire: This allows Cynder to breath a dark, shadow gas at the enemies. Upon covering an enemy, they will become dazed and confused, and will start to attack the other enemies. Cool! Something else nice about this attack is that it doesn't use up very much mana, and gives tu a lot of hits. So if tu are still trying to unlock the 150 hits artwork gallery, try achieving that goal using this attack.
Also: See something nice behind a purple gate, but the lever to open it is on the other side? No problem! Use Shadow Strike to travel underneath the gate, then once tu are in, pull the lever to let Spyro in too.
And don't forget!
-Fury breath! Both Spyro and Cynder have this ability, and it does tons of quick damage. When the fury meter's full, both dragones can team up and use it for a short time. When tu do use it, note that your mana bar fills up. Also, if tu have all the armour in the right row, wear it all to unlock fury as an element. Sadly, it costs a lot of mana to use this way, but it's good in emergencies.
-If tu are into using elemental attacks, get Cynder to wear the silver bracers. These regenerate mana.
-In co-op mode, Spyro and Cynder can give each other health and mana. So if tu have them available, make Spyro wear his health regenerating bracers and Cynder her mana regenerating bracers. The two of tu will be unstoppable!
