I believe that the ring was a wedding ring and Prentiss and Doyle were at one point married when she was undercover. And i think when Doyle was lighting the candle that he was talking about Prentiss

As I sd above the man then wears one on a chain as does the woman until they are married, the rings are then linked together and worn either on the woman's finger o both upon her neck. Prentiss was dado the rings por Doyle. They were in love, she truly did amor Doyle. The thing that made her leave was Doyle son. Doyle wanted Prentiss to raise him as an IRA soldier, she refused took the boy sd the housekeeper and staged their deaths. After that mostrar Prentiss died from wounds taken por a fight With Doyle.
