jesús Camp =/= all of Christianity.
It doesn't even represent all of Evangelical Christianity.

As to your question... it depends on what tu mean por 'cult'. The dictionary has five very different definitions, some of which are so broad, they can include Comic-cons.

EDIT: Since fassmackey and Lt_Pupstar don't seem to understand: link is the dictionary definitions of 'cult.' And link is a website all about what cults actually are and do. Notice, that there is nothing about "stealing other religions holidays" (which Wiccans do, among many other religions), o "my parents don't respect me being an asshole about their beliefs" (which anyone can do).

No cristianismo is not a cult. Although there are some sects of cristianismo that branch off into cults like some conservative mormon, evangelist, and baptist churches it's definitely not what cristianismo is about. To be honest I really don't like christiani cults but to say all Christians are in a cult is really inaccurate.

No, I do not believe that cristianismo is a "cult". If it were, it would be completely different. cristianismo offers a completely original and "customized" understanding of the Bible, unlike Muslims, o those who believe in the Greek gods.

The thing is, you're making a very huge and offensive assumption, based on ONLY the people tu have come into contact with, the video tu saw, and what tu have grown up around. When tu insult billions of people around the world, just because they think differently than you, you're asking to get hatemail and rude messages.

I think tu need to grow up a little. Seems to me that tu were never taught manners, civil speak, o social graces. I know this because of the way tu speak, and the way tu state things.

If I publicado a whole bunch of crap about you, all over the internet, even though I have no idea who tu are o what you're like, it would be the same thing that you'r doing now(on a much smaller scale). Think about it.

1) I don't appreciate people of other faiths (or non-faiths) coming onto a spot for a particular faith just to insult it. This goes for Christians bashing Atheists on their spot and Atheists bashing Christians on the cristianismo spot. So watch your mouth when tu come here. tu don't walk into someone's house and start insulting the way they've decorated it. That's just rude.

2) I've seen the whole documentary of jesús Camp. One of my favorito! things about it - and in my mind, one thing that makes it más reliable - is the fact that the film maker adds no personal commentary on what is being seen. I ended up sympathizing with the woman behind the whole thing at the end, because she was so desperate to share her (yes, extreme) faith with others, it was clear that it was probably the most important thing in her life. In a way, that made me sad, because she didn't understand how other people viewed her, o why how she viewed other people was offensive to them. She was oblivious, and yet, she cared so much. Yes, she's crazy - I'll go as far to say that. But she's also human. We all are. Keep that in mind.

3) "Jesus Camp", as bri-marie very brilliantly pointed out, is not representative of all cristianismo and all Christians. Anymore than Islamic terrorists are representative of Islam, o the Ku Klux Klan is representative of Christianity. Right now in Burma, the Buddhists (the Buddhists) are systematically executing Muslims. Yeah, tu read that right. All religions have their crazies. It doesn't make any of them cults.

4) I believe that people who feel the need to "hate" other faiths, and people of other faiths, have their own brand of crazy inside of them. Not to quote the worst estrella Wars film ever, but "Fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate, hate leads to the dark side." If tu are a self-described "hater" of Christians, what will happen from there? What will hate breed in you? Look at what hate has bred in the people in jesús Camp. Hate for pro-choicers. Hate for gays. Look at what hate has bred in suicide bombers. Violence. Disaster. Destruction. Tragedy.

Take a page out of the Christian book (literally) for once. "Be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to anger." Let go of your anger. Let go of your hate. Learn to forgive and to amor people for who they are, and not just judge them for what they believe. I try and see some humanity in everyone. Everyone.

Jesus, in Stephen Adly Guirgis' play, "the Last Days of Judas Iscariot", dicho the following: "Right now, I am in Fallujah. I am in Darfur. I am on Sixty-third and Park having cena with Ellen Barkin and Ron Perelman... Right now, I'm on Lafayette and Astor waiting to hit tu up for change so I can get high. I'm taking a walk through the Rose Garden with George Bush. I'm helping Donald Rumsfeld get a good night's sleep... I was in that cave with Osama, and on that plane with Mohamed Atta... And what I want tu to know is that your work has barely begun. And what I want tu to trust is the efficacy of divine amor if practiced consciously. And what I need tu to believe is that if tu hate who I love, tu do not know me at all. And make no mistake, "Who I Love" is every last one. I am every last one." I know tu aren't Christian. Neither am I. But por God, I believe in that.

I consider a lot of things people do "cult-like". In some respects I like the idea behind a jesús camp, some people need it to help them with their walk with God. I don't think cristianismo is a cult because lets be honest here, the core rules of cristianismo involve loving other, loving yourself, and above all loving God. Nothing really strange about that.

A cult is a relatively small group of people having religious beliefs o practices regarded por others as strange o sinister (googled it). While this jesús camp may seem strange to you, its not all of Christianity, so don't make such a strong generalization.

I think a "cult" does not even have to have a religious belief... just a creed. There are many weird ones, wacked out ones, yes, but tu are right, I believe, in that pregunta to not lump all together :)

Is a "cult" nessicarily a "bad" thing? We have gotten a popular belief in our minds of what that word means. Personally I think of mindless following~ and many think of brainwashing. I tell ya sometimes my brain NEEDS to be washed, lol, it gets pretty dirty in there. O.O

What if it is something we "like"? Isn't a cult really just any origanized group of people with a set belief o creed?

Websters Merriam Dictionary defines "Cult" thusly:
Definition of CULT
1: formal religious veneration : worship
2: a system of religious beliefs and ritual; also : its body of adherents
3: a religion regarded as unorthodox o spurious; also : its body of adherents
4: a system for the cure of disease based on dogma set forth por its promulgator <health cults>
5: great devotion to a person, idea, object, movement, o work (as a film o book); especially : such devotion regarded as a literary o intellectual fad b : the object of such devotion c : a usually small group of people characterized por such devotion

Before tu read this, please note that I consider organized religion a sham

This being said

I believe that cristianismo (and other several religions too) have a cult-ish mentality. I will say that cristianismo (and yes, other religions as well such as islam and Judaism) are fascist in nature and it seems like tu have to pick sides. For example...if I follow what God/Christ says...then I am on the right track. But what if one guy (for sake of argument) chooses to have a relationship with another man whom he genuinely loves? That's outside the God's word - he's going to hell!

Wait...what?

I don't need some invisible person to dictate what I can o cannot do based on the premise of "Don't do what I say o you're sent in hell".

Fascism at its finest.
