Cordy - I love Cordy, her snarkiness, her attitude, everything about her is great but we only have her for three seasons of Buffy and she does not even develop into that big of a character until season two (when she hooks up with Xander in What's My Line pt. 2). The reason I have to pick Buffy over Cordy is because of what we miss out on in Angel. Cordy develops slightly but it's not until Angel that she becomes this amazing evolved character, this complete Whedon work. Cordy's great but she lacks the overall development that we get with Buffy.
Angel....hmmm, I like Angel once we get into season two, actually it's Angelus that makes Angel this full character. The Angelus change was great storytelling, solid acting (I was alittle shocked about that bit), and honestly just great but he's development is just too stop/start for me. I haven't been able to recconcile all of Angel in my head and I find his character lacking in season three. It's just an overall feeling of 'hmmm'.
Except when he's Angelus, then I'm sometimes nonverbal.
Buffy is well rounded and it's a combo of the times I love and hate here that make her believeable to me. I get her.
And I pretty much only like Angel on his show where he has personality and, even better than that, some humour
But I do love Angelus always
