Clannad/After Story, Angel Beats, Death Note, Book of Circus, SAO, and then Fruits Basket.

I hate/don't know the rest.

Prismbunny9 picked 5.Death Note(Characters:9.6 Story:10 Presentation:10 Overall:10):
Death Note is my favorite anime! I also like Sword Art Online. I was told not to bother with the original Fullmetal Alchemist series, so I've been watching Fullmetal Alchemist:Brotherhood instead. But nevertheless, it has been good.

Bunny: Definitely don't bother with the 2003 anime of FMA, it completely murdered the beauty of the manga. Going off script of the manga is a huge no no.

@Bunny You should it's a lot better paced than Brotherhood. For one random comedic scenes are only used at appropriate moments and not out-of-the-blue classic Japanese humor. On top of that, the original 2003 version has certain scenes and a real stature to connect each side plot with the main story naturally and to make it feel more filling.

Bunny: The 2003 anime has this:

- Random filler episodes
- Made up characters that shouldn't even be there
- Characters that lasted longer then they needed too just to add unnecessary plot
- The wrong villians and plotline all together, literally....everything is wrong...
- Characters who died that should NOT have died
- Characters are 100% different
- Back stories we didn't need
- The whole point of Edward was that he didn't kill people, yet he kills people in this
- They totally f**ked up Hohenheim, literally destroyed an amazing character. Don't get me started on Izumi, Roy, and Scar.
- WTF Lust? WTF Envy? WTF Sloth? WTF Wrath? PRIDE?? Just a big bowl of NO.
- And the totally piece of sh*t of a movie that gave it that total piece of sh*t of an ending. FMA meets Doctor Who. -_-

If you think the Fruits Basket anime was good, then read the manga as it is 10x better.

@Pumpkin
I can see where you're coming from, but I disagree:
-Random filler episodes
There are filler episodes, but they don't take away from the story and instead adds to it. In a very similar way that SAO did, it adds to the world and the characters. However, it isn't random, each side story is fit in naturally because the side stories always start off with where the main story left off. Your right there is filler, but only hardly.

-Made up characters that shouldn't even be there

Willson: He's actually pretty useful, he was saved by Edward in episode 6 in which resulted in Ed becoming a state alchemist. I personally wasn't bothered by his character, and he did show up again with more depth to contribute to the plot more. (I'm trying to be spoiler free because this poll wasn't marked as a spoiler poll)

New Sloth: I personally thought this character added a lot to a certain character and the new sloth even set up to a good explanation of how homunculi were made.

The Exile: Was a very important character to the story. He contributed to exclusive information that Scar used later in the series.

The new main antagonist: I honestly thought her character worked better and made Hohenheim a more sympathy, better character. Instead of having Hohenheim having the "everyone around me are tools" mortality that I see too often.

-Characters that lasted longer than they needed just to add unnecessary plot
I honestly thought the characters that lasted longer, just made it so when they do get killed it left more of an impact.

-The wrong villains and plotline all together, literally....everything is wrong...
The villains and new plotlines actually kind of worked better since it gave a more interesting approach to them aside from their characters just being represented by a single trait. It was instead switched around so the villains actually have their sin represent their actions and emotions, with a lot more focus being on their psychological meaning.

-Characters who died that should NOT have died
I can't really go too deep in this one, but I thought the characters who died had more reason to die than the 2009 versions.

- Characters are 100% different
That's not true at all. Most of the side characters and Elric Alphonse are pretty much the same. Don't get me wrong, they are obvious changes in the characters, but not in personality. Just in some actions and backstory.

-Back stories we didn't need
Not really, back stories are very important to characters and add more depth to them.

- They totally f**ked up Hohenheim, literally destroyed an amazing character. Don't get me started on Izumi, Roy, and Scar.
The 2009 Scar was actually pretty unlikeable his development came out of nowhere and how his characters started out was inconsistent at best(even Ed pointed his unjustified actions out). The 2003 ver was very consistent with his actions which made him easier to empathize with. Roy's focus was switched around to a more admirable admiration then having a more sympathetic approach that was focused on the 2009 ver. Izumi's past is different, but not exactly in a bad way. Her backstory might not be as detailed, however, it still had the heart of her character there with the same focus. Hohenheim in the 2003 version was better in my opinion because they removed the generic parts(The stupid "everyone is my tool") of his character and kept the interesting parts(his relationship with the Elrics and regrets about it).

-The whole point of Edward was that he didn't kill people, yet he kills people in this
Now this one really bug me, that was not all the point of his character. I didn't put him in my top 10 characters list because of this. I put him in because he had a lot of depth and complexity to his character. Besides, he didn't lose any of his likability because the one person he did kill was only out of self-defense, also keep in mind that he did it by accident, and he did cry once he found out that he did kill someone.

- WTF Lust? WTF Envy? WTF Sloth? WTF Wrath? PRIDE?? Just a big bowl of NO.
I honestly like what they did to the Seven Sins the new plot that they were given actually made them for more realistic and memorable. All of the 2009 versions were boring, flat unmemorable characters who only had one trait describing them(with the expectation of Greed).

- And the totally piece of sh*t of a movie that gave it that total piece of sh*t of an ending. FMA meets Doctor Who. -_-
I haven't watched the movie, so I wouldn't know about that one.

1.Clannad:After Story
2.Clannad

4.Fullmetal Alchemist
5.Angel Beats
6.Book of Circus(Characters:9.8 Story:9.2 (Presentation is a 10) Overall:10)
7.Fruits Basket
8.First(half) SAO(8 and 9 are pretty much neck to neck, so, either way, would've been just fine)
