Please don’t state I’m trolling, I amor Cowboy Bebop. In fact, it’s one of my favorito! anime ever and it even tops Cardcaptor Sakura. It has great animación and a great cast of English voice actors. I actually like it better than Samurai Champloo. I’m sorry to be an idiot here, but in my opinion, Cowboy Bebop’s movie: Knockin’ On Heaven’s Door kinda destroyed Spike’s personality. In the anime, he’s sweet, earnest, and loving. He’d almost never lost the kindness inside of him and always had a calm attitude, especially towards his friends. He was a lot like Jet is now. He was just a typical bounty hunter, but in the 2001 animated film, he’s like some kind of ‘Bebe’s Kids’ person. He yells at a thug in a store (which would possibly happen, but I never seem him as ill-tempered as this), now in the show, he would always say earnest things before he starts kicking a bounty’s @$$. He always threatens to hurt people’s feelings and más o so likes to get his way all the time so if he doesn’t, he’ll start beating the crap out of you. [“Just make a move…” When he commanded Jet while playing Shogi and played por the rules in vain all because he was too tired to do it; he loses his temper whenever tu say something true to him and he’s a very mean guy.] In Waltz for Venus, Stella was telling the truth that Spike was being so well-natured to Rocco and how he was being well-natured to her. Now, he’s as mischievous as Edith from Despicable Me, he’s as cute as I would imagine a brat (especially a child estrella like Darla Dimples from gatos Don’t Dance) would act, and his attitude removes his style of precocious confidence. He’s quite immature in the 2001 animated film, going on and off on anything when something doesn’t go his way. Remember when he asked a solider for a cig and the solider demanded another if his request is accepted; then it’s denied, and Spike kicks the cop in the shin just because of it? Well, compare these quotes:

“Sorry, my stomach just took over my brain; it does that sometimes.”
“It’s possible. I got my reasons to save you, Faye, so don’t take it personal.”
“Ed, we’re trying to find a guy named Hex, he’s in cyberspace.”

Spike from the 2001 movie:
“DON’T PULL THAT ART OF WAR CRAP ON ME!!!!”
“So much for looking ahead, huh, can’t take it back, pard.”
“I don’t feel like it.”
“Yeah, whatever.”
“She’s like a trained seal. Maybe we can sell her to the Martian circus.”
It seems to me like he’s so mean to his poor partner Jet, but is always nice to Faye, Edward and Ein, but why not Jet? Is it because his character has been criticized too much whatsoever? Well, who would be so mean to an honest and wise friend like Jet anyhow? I mean, it’s true that some people fight with their cousins and friends in reality, but saying that to a partner in a team, well, I could consider Spike & Jet as brothers but I still didn’t like the way Spike was acting. He’s always throwing tantrums (now I’ve seen him do it a couple times in the anime but not as much as this.)
O.K., I regret the “I don’t feel like it.” And “Yeah, whatever,” frases but if Spike says he doesn’t feel like doing something, he’s just too lazy to do it. I know he dicho the same thing at some point in Asteroid Blues, but he and Jet were in outer el espacio so if Jet was talking about a place on an asteroid, it’s better to say “I don’t feel like doing this” instead of saying that when tu could only walk two kilometers to view the Bebop computer screen. And the “Yeah, whatever.” quote not sure if he was mad o something but probably frustrated I would say since Faye was mocking the vase he was holding.
