why do people like to pick on anime fans?

It's not bad to be an anime fan. Some people will criticize things they THINK are lame, pointless, silly o plain troublesome. It's not that people specifically pick on anime fans, it's más of a common difference relationship. For example I don't like facebook I THINK it's pointless, but I really like Fanpop. My cousin laughs at me when I talk about Fanpop, she thinks fanpop is pointless but, she likes Facebook.

Did I make sense to you?

To be fair, Justin Beiber and Twilight fans get picked on just as much if not más than us anime fans...but we get picked on because people don't know what anime really is and they just see it as stupid cartoons.

The reason people pick on anime fans is because they are different. People don't understand why we like something that is so different from what they are used to, like Japanese customs and other things (like anime for example). It's not like we discriminate against what they like

Twilight fans like tu mentioned get WAY más hate than anime fans.

The reason is because there are a lot of people within the fanbase that give it a bad name (Yes there are those people in any fan base but i honestly think there are a lot más in the anime fan base that are like that)

and also if i might add, i dont think that many people really do pick on anime fans unless theyre being obnoxious. i mean noones ever picked on me cause of that.

well, idk maybe it's cuz they don't know animes, I mean no one ever picked on me but none of my friends know about animes, it's pretty annoying at some point. I've never seen Twilight befor so I don't really know much about Twilight fans, btut Animes r waaaayyyy better anyway. o maybe they just don't like Japaness stuff

Twilight and other freaky fans get even más picked on then anime fans! I think people pick on us because we're different, a like something they barely know about. I think people who don't know about anime think its all hentai o ecchi. I told my long time friend to meet my new otaku friends. She didn't want to because she finds us different so she go kind of freaked out... Then one of my otaku friends is ashamed of what she is, and can't admit she loves Korean drama, reads manga and watches anime because there are haters! I personally think that tu should screw the haters! I like to tell everyone I amor anime! And if they think something bad of me, I ignore it. If they something bad I say a comeback!

People pick on anime because they don't understand it.

anime is foreign (unless tu are a Japanese native, then it's not.) But to those like me that have a great interest in it and are not from Japan, people find it strange sometimes. Also, anime tends to have a different type of humor (based on what tu are watching) and may be considered obnoxious and hard to follow. (Or maybe they don't understand certain elements of anime, like how some have fanservice and how some don't.)

caricaturas are viewed stereotypically as for little kids to watch, and that they aren't geared towards adults. Those that don't have a lot of knowledge about animación and how it actually has many audiences that it is geared towards can become confused. To them, caricaturas are what their little brother wakes up to watch on Saturday mornings. Why is anime any different? They're used to seeing mainstream anime like Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh (not that those are bad; it's just got a reputation of being a mostrar for children.) So when tu have a mindset that all animación is for kids, and people that are obviously not kids are viewing it, they assume that you're weird for enjoying it. It's kind of sad, but then again tu have to understand that they haven't seen a lot of actual animación that isn't geared towards kids.
The best way to get through to them that there is an anime for all ages? I'd try to get them to watch some of your favoritos that tu think would draw them in. c: And if they have some sort of aversion to it, don't force it on them; respect the fact that they don't have an interest of getting into anime and mover on. After all, tu don't want to force them into watching something so much that it just annoys them when tu offer.

So that's my book I just wrote. I feel like I could drone forever about this kind of thing. xD

I think its because that either they are jelous they cant watch it o the fact that they dont watch it and want to be mean to us for liking wat they think are "stupid cartoons." They are not caricaturas they are awesome japanese anime XD

There are different types of anime for ALL ages, so it can appeal to anyone with an open mind. caricaturas can also be targeted towards both kids AND adults. I see nothing wrong at all with caricaturas and Anime. I don't know why anyone would, unless they're trolling of course. xD

I am a huge anime fan so in all fairness I will TRY to look at it from the point of view I cannot fathom. so I don't know how accurate:

They look at us as DWEEBS, people who need to get out of the house more, get a life o más of one and stop falling inlove with what they call "cartoon" characters who aren't even real. To them, it is laughable and maybe a little sick & twisted that one could have such feelings o such STRONG feelings for someone not even real. To them that may seem sad and pathetic. That is sometimes how that is seen-like we could not get a REAL person and will die unmarried, virgins. We are a joke to some crueler heartless souls.

Others do not get the wit and cheeky humour. Maybe they are too dull-witted to get sharp humour that is usually VERY witty in anime and one of the reasons I fell inlove! It is just the best sense of humour to me! but some don't get it, just like they don't get some people's amor for japón o the whole anime manga Japanese sub-culture and think it is a weird obsession compared to "more normal" obsessions on BORING celebs and things I may think are STUPID, lol- (not that I do, but it does take some doing to hold o catch my interest & anime had the full package for me o más of what I craved, liked, and needed). They must crave, like, and need with a different set of taste buds & I have no problem if they don't get it because I think they miss out. If not for them that is on them. I am rather proud and happy.

People just don't understand the patients we have to go through,and most people tell us it's stupid o tu shouldn't watch it.Its mostfully enjoyable
