I study screen writing, I amor all of Joss Whedon's work and study a lot of his formulas, as well as his bibles, scripts and character developments. To me, there is something más to the way they treated the whole Connor and Cordelia. Joss Whedon and all those that work with him, hold up the most respect for their main characters, even if they go to the dark side, he shows them going on a journey. Though, with Cordelia it really seemed to be lacking, something wasn't right. She goes from this high school girl and really grows into this wonderful person then bam, all that character building is taken away in the most hateful way. It's not like the writer's o the creators to do that. So I can't help wonder if maybe something behind scenes caused them to have this huge resistment towards her. I have heard rumours that she was pregant in real life and didn't tell the writer's and that's why they decicded to kill her off. Of course rumours is nothing to base fact on but if true makes a whole bunch of sense. To this question, I think it was the writer's intent to have Connor become close to his father, they seemed to be going in that direction with Cordelia cleanising his soul, her new found magic was seen as a reward. Then all of a sudden they change direction. How they try to make it like everyone's life was controlled and all the things they did was for the grand plan. It not only took away from everyone's journey but also estola the show. It was a desperate attempt por the writer's to band aid what they must of felt was a huge mess. tu can see it in every line, story line and attempt to try to make it as neat as possible. They spent so much time doing damage controll the story, season and character development really suffered. I have a feeling the dream that ángel had was what the writer's were going to do, though, with the situation what ever it was they changed it. The dream I am talking about is the one where he finds the sward but then wakes up as Angelous. Scripts are usually written well before being filmed but on TV are changed all the time. I think Connor is so disliked cause out of all the characters it was easiest to make him the only credit character to go on this self distructing journey with out causing too much of an outrage with fans. Season four doesn't feel right, there's something off with it. I went to see Joss Whedon do a talk in Sydney, he talked alot about his mostrar (didn't mention which one) going off direction. He also took the best writer off ángel and put him on Firefly. I think it was just too much for David to handly por himself. I think he needed Tim.
